Only reason I'm going to pick this up is because it's so cheap for PS+ members.

My favorite game of all time. 20€ is still a little much, though.

And you can totally still buy guns if you shoot the merchant. Just not from that particular merchant.

I would love to play this for trophies.

Great game, but not $20 great. I don't care if they actually had done an HD update; I wouldn't pay that much.

If you kill the merchant on Normal, he comes back. However, if he dies on Professional difficulty... he stays dead.

Also, GC discs were 1.5 gig in size. But this is a port of the PS2 version, so 3.3 gig would've fit on one of those. Maybe it's higher quality audio or something that brings the file size up?

ok....so im not much of a big Resident Evil fan so I may have missed somthing......why is there a quick look if the game came out in 05' ?

Brad is already pissing me off, I'm 15 minutes in the Quick Look.
 
That only happens to me if it's a game I feel strongly about, so I'm not actually  pissed off at him, because my facepalming and "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT" screaming has only made me remember how much I love this game.

k, makes more sense now, sorry, but still not gonna play it, to much GOW3: Horde at the moment...

@CptBedlam: I agree. Give me REmake HD with achievements!

Also, to Brad: I agree with the control scheme issue. Wish type II allowed us to aim with the right stick, considering the "camera control" is pretty useless. Still, this game remains outstanding.

@Creamypies: That wasn't the case for me, at least on the Wii, you can kill the merchant no matter what and he'll still be there.

Resident Evil 4 came on 2 GameCube disks, that's why it's so big.

I'd bite for 10$ not 20.

Oh man, that music that plays during the action sequences brings back memories. There was so much tension in this game, something I think no other horror game has gotten quite as good. Especially during the castle. I remember the castle feeling really claustrophobic in parts.

I think if they're charging $20 for a PS2 game they really should have done some more work.

Beyond Good and Evil was 800 points and it looks like they did more to that than they did to this.

I've got the Wii version and that still seems like the one to own.

I'm pretty sure RE4 on the Gamecube was 2 discs.
 
Oh and Brad, the point of lowering the cover on those wells is you're supposed to do that before shooting down the item.  Then you get a clean pendant/watch which is worth more.

Oh Lord, watching Brad buy the Rifle and not the scope to go with it is driving me INSANE.

Such an awesome game though. Brad's hoarding totally reminds me of how I used to play it. Only I'd usually go for the headshot/kick combo instead of knife unless they were already knocked down.

I bought this because this is one of my favorite games, but fuuuuck, capcom is so lazy, I really with they had cleaned up the textures and maybe thrown some lighting in instead of just porting it and outputting at a higher res, this is the laziest 'HD' version of a game I have seen yet.

Yay it's up! :D

$20 for the best game of 2005!

Damn, I must have played through this game at least...10 times, maybe more. I consider myself a pro at this game, memorized all the secrets and treasure locations and unlocking everything. The only things that killed me were the occasional missed quick time events.

Also Brad, headshots are the best since you can kick them after they stagger from a headshot, that or leg shots.

This is probably the only game where the shotgun feels like a kick ass weapon, and I don't mean at killing players in competitive multiplayer. You can knock down whole crowds of ganados with one shot and it always feels like it packs a wallop.

Eh, I'm not about to spend £15-£18 just for a platinum trophy. Knowing that it features online leaderboards is a huge bonus, though... even if this is still a wee bit overpriced with minimilistic improvements.

Also Brad sucks at Resident Evil, but that's been established long before this QL ;P I still remember how insane I was (or am, I should say) with games like RE4 and Dead Space and their upgrade system; I'd completely empty a gun (not needlessly, every bullet would be put to good use) and just leave that gun empty until I found a merchant, or I'd head back, and upgrade the weapon's maximum ammo limit to get me some free ammo. Not using that technique always made me feel like I was wasting ammo.

I got super crazy with all the inventory management too, and I fucking loved it so much. I put in all this crazy math in deciding what I should purposely sell for profit. I've been like this with all RE's, though RE4's brilliant inventory made me manage like a mad man.

where is RE2 remake ? =(

I think after having played RE4 so many times and memorizing everything to the dime, I wouldn't be able to stomach watching anyone play it imperfectly. I'd be like "Oh you didn't shoot that bird nest! Oh you missed some pesetas around that corner! GAH!"

Glad to see some love behind this game on GB.

If they added Move support I'd be able to justify buying the remake...and a Move. As is? No thanks. 

Goddamnit Brad, you should of closed the lid first before shooting the Brass Watch so it's cleaner, and worth more monies! :o
