Well, get used to it. You have your innovators, who create something new. Then geniuses and prodigees grow up exploring that new idea, they create masterpieces, elevating their field to mainstream culture, reaching fame and fortune. Which eventually lure talentless attention seeking bitches to flood and pollute what was once greatness, perfection and soul. Those bastards ruined comedy, cinema, music, even science is inundated with theorical physicists who want to be Albert Einstein. Video games are no exception, mediocrity is well on its way.

So they should only quicklook games you want to see? i for one like point and click games, and tbh there arnt a lot of them, So even 'bad' point and click games will get a glance from me.

@dagbiker: Yes, I do think it would be better if they focused some of their time on more highly produced content instead of this.

As someone who always thought the original Shadowgate was a title of squandered potential, I'm definitely interested in this. The only fly in the ointment is the fact that what-the-living-fuck deaths still seem to be sprinkled throughout, but what I've seen here is still enough to at least have me keen to see what the iPad version is like (and how it's priced).

30 27 year anniversary of the original. That makes me feel old.

Also, this is not the Dark Souls of adventure games, Brad. This is maybe the Mario Kart of adventure games. There are some ridiculously hard, punishing adventure games out there.

Madden comes out soon, I'm sure that's more your speed. After that you can jump right into Call of Duty.

@sil3n7: No, I understand perfectly. You don't want Giantbomb covering smaller games, only AAA games. When there's no AAA games coming out you'd rather they be doing something else than covering smaller games.

One of the reasons i like dark souls is because (most) every time i die, although it might not be 'my' fault directly, or avoidable, i can learn from it. That dose not seem to be the case here. Even Dark Souls will let you know pretty well that you should not be standing in the AOE of a spell, or that the switch you hit activated a door.

I think one thing Dark Souls got right is one of the things that a lot of games dont, making death part of the gameplay. But thats another paragraph.

I agree - I would welcome coverage of the so called "AAA titles" and selected indie/smaller titles, which the crew knows they are in some way exceptional or important at the time. Instead they cover a lot of mediocore or bad games or even just picking something random they didn't play (or even heard about) before just for the sake of producing a video.

@quipido: What you (or I, or anyone else) considers "bad" or "good" games differs wildly from person to person. If you paid any attention at all to the Quick Look EX and release trailer for this game, you would know that a LOT of people on GB were excited for its release.

Giant Bomb video productions have ALWAYS been about what the GB Staff wants to produce, not what their parent company or the vocal minority tells them to produce. Watch the videos you think you'll find interesting and ignore the ones that don't appeal to you. Don't complain that the site doesn't cater 100% to your interests 100% of the time, because such a thing doesn't exist (thankfully).

Not bad. I will give this a shot. Shadowgate was one of my favorite games as a kid.

I like that Giant Bomb will review lots of games. Not just AAA titles or only Indie Stuff. It feels like when I used to write music reviews. Some weeks you get the new releases from well known artists and you have to come up with 500 words praising or damning the CD for being yet another album from XXXXXX. Others you get a complete gem, or complete garbage from some obscure corner of the music underground. Then the words just flow.

GB does that with video games which is why I prefer them to other sites. Not scared to try a mix of both and really enjoys the exploration.

Whatever, this game got me to dig further into Shadowgate and find Beyond Shadowgate which is a PC Engine Duo game if you can believe that. I'll take any excuse to look at the PC Engine again.

What we need....is an Immortal remake.

Just redeemed my Steam key for this due to donating to the Kickstarter. I cannot wait for this and hopeful remakes and re-imaginings of Deja Vu and Uninvited.

I do think that the talking skull is really dumb, though.

Well time to grab this sucker then. You know, for a supposed "drought" as some people are calling it, I'm dropping quite a bit of cash on games lately.

I'm going through a rough break-up at the moment but Jeff's dumb elemental creature voice managed to make me chuckle.
