Quick Look: Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

I wonder how that works with Gamefly. If the Vita version is just on the disc, if I rented the game when it came out, could I have put the Vita version on my PS3 and sent the game back I guess?

Never really cared for this franchise, but I am glad they brought it back for the fans.

Unfortunately, Sony's lackluster marketing is going to kill this game.

I think it might be because I never played a Sly game but this looks floaty in a way that makes the platforming not fun looking.

Also, really bad old-style stealth sequences. Man. It's like games never evolved, looking at this.

Why is Murray the pink hippo wearing a shirt, a scarf, goggles, gloves, a hat, socks, shoes and a belt... but NO PANTS!?!

You'd think one of his friends would have taken him aside and said, "Look Murray, you're making us uncomfortable with the whole no pants thing. I mean what is your belt even holding up?"

As someone who treated Crack in Time as my de facto one and done experience with the Ratchet series, is this basically that for Sly? Personally it doesn't feel as much as a definitive Sly game as a Sly 3.5 with some higher res assets. At least, that's the impression I've gotten so far from seeing this and hearing them talk about.

Basically what I'm asking is whether this is actually worth my time as someone near as close to completely detached and apathetic about the franchise prior as one could get. Anyone?

@BaconGames: It's a great game, but I'm not sure if I'd call it the "definitive" Sly game. Sly 2 is probably still my favorite game in the series.

Is the HD collection worth it? I do have the old ones.

I'm actually impressed how similar the gameplay seems, considering a different developer.

Fuck Sony for not marketing this at all.

my girlfriend LOVES this game. I think sly looks cool and she's trying to force me to play the HD collection, but eh.

Well they're at 60fps (though that's not really a big deal since the games aren't action games), they look fantastic in HD and each of them have some of the easiest trophies ever if you're into that. Plus they're all on one disc and you can find it for pretty cheap. If you like the series, I think it's worth it.

I find it amusing how each of the Sly Cooper sequels have 3-letter word acronyms. There's BOT (Band of Thieves), HAT (Honor Among Thieves) and now we have... TIT...

Whatever, the game's still pretty fun, that's all that matters.

I hope Batrick learns how to run at some point in this QL... (R1, duder)

In a "Blink and you'll miss it" style, there is a reference to a reference to masturbating (well, blowing your load) in the game and in the first fifteen seconds of this video. Which is also somewhat racist and really not relevant to most of Giant Bomb's demographic due to age and geography. As a thirtysomething Englishman who was brought up on British punk rock music I spotted it though. Yay me.

I remember hearing maybe once or twice over the past year that a new Sly game was coming, and I was really excited, and then forget, and then, BANG, here it is. Why is there zero marketing for this?

Received my copy yesterday - can someone pls explain to me how "Cross-Buy" works. Or maybe my problem is just, that I own the US import and use the Austrian PSN where the game hasn't been released yet xD
