I just don't get what people see in these games. All this walking around with nothing happening doesn't scare me; it bores me. I have tried watching several people play this game and freak out like babies at the slightest bumps and noises and it just makes me roll my eyes. I guess there's just some kind of disconnect that doesn't allow me to get into the setting.

Also, the tiny hand just looks hilarious to me. Makes me think of that guy with the tiny hand from the Scary Movie movie. I can't stop picturing the PC being this guy just walking around the house and it makes the game hilarious to me.

If there was some sort of "fuck it, I'm going home." option at the beginning, I'd play it for sure, but there isn't. I lose my shit watching other people play this. I'd piss my pants downloading the damn thing.

Compare this QL to the one done for the original Amnesia (before Patrick joined GB). Patrick does a wonderful job of showing exactly what this game is, what it does and why you would (or wouldn't) want to play it, whereas the other guys just make fun of the original game. I love the usual GB antics, but for everybody who complains that the guys don't show games in their best light, take notice.

Also, the creepy phonograph was right behind you, Patrick.

It's the immersion, really. I played through the first one and it only worked for me with headphones on during the night. During the day or with speakers, it was just a really bad puzzle game.

But many people get easily immersed and don't have this problem. We are not those...

@patrickklepek The music came from the gramophone in the corner of that office (it actually was in your view briefly). Also, you missed a really good scare in that very room. :'(

The way you can accidentally swing doors open always scared me.

I really wish i enjoyed these style of horror games. I tried the first one and it was painfully boring for me. I got to right after the infamous water sequence and lost interest. I find the prospect of things that might actually happen way more unsettling and scary, which is why i loved the condemned series, even though that got weird in the second game. I may give this a go, but it looks like more of the same for now.

Can't wait for this game. Waiting for Friday as I am buying new headphones and my current ones are shot. This game deserves more than my $20.00 speakers.

Maybe I'm lacking the experience of actually playing the game for myself but, based purely on the quick look, this doesn't seem to mess with me in the same way the original did. Granted, this is the very beginning and Patrick was moving through it pretty slowly. Maybe once you're actually introduced to the creature and it is actively stalking you that the game picks up the pace.

@crusader8463: That's why you PLAY THE GAME yourself. Watching some guy react to a game you're not playing is not scary at all. It might be entertaining to some people, but scary? Not a chance. It's the reason why co-op in horror-games have ruined the genre. AI-partner or another player-it's just not the same as being alone. Hell even Patrick has the chat to keep him company.

I played the first Amnesia in my grandparent's cabin on a secluded mountain on my laptop in the middle of the night. I nearly shat myself in fear and it was great. Now that's a great way to experience horror games.

FEAR IS A CHOICE, DANGER IS REAL

I did play it and it had the same effect. I played it for about 1-2 hours and was just finding myself bored/frustrated with the puzzles. When I gave up trying to play it myself I went online to try and find some videos and that had the same effect. I'm happy some people can get off on it, but for me it's just a boring puzzle adventure game with the occasional jump scare. This one seems no different after watching the QL. It was just an hour of nothing happening but Patrick picking up things and putting them back down and him reading from time to time.

Am I the only one that don't find this game scary? I just don't find pigs scary:( When one of the pigs drove past me in a truck I laughed! It wasn't spooky or anything, so far I find Outlast to be the king. But who knows, maybe the last hours of Amnesia: A Machine for pigs can convince me.
