@patrickklepek I think the game has 2 E's at the end? You might want to update the title!

Having been making windows and menus lately, the impulse to fix the spacing in that title selection menu is overwhelming! >,<

This game looks pretty snazzy.

I'm sure you checked this out but "Naissance" means birth in French and if my High School level french is correct adding an extra "e" at the end makes it feminine which might tie into the female sounding protagonist you seem to inhabit but I might be completely off on the grammar.

Like people say, this becomes like Tsutomu Nihei's Blame! manga. He's an arcitect become artist and writer, Blame! could go several issues without dialogue and was still a thrilling piece of seinen scifi, just no way to create a game out of it.

Unless maybe, his Knights of Sidonia got picked up. This is cool.

This looks really great, but as a student, it's really hard to justify paying 18€ for a game that is not that replay-able and only lasts for a few hours., while having so many games in your backlog. I'll put in on the list, though. Thanks, Patrick.

This game's worth checking out. There's some rough action/platforming, but mostly it's awesome visuals and atmosphere.

Really glad you showed this game off Patrick. This game really spoke to me and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since finishing it the other day. I hope you stick with it. The weird and creepy atmosphere persists throughout, and some of the sequences toward the end get real trippy.

How long did it take you? I'm, I dunno, almost three hours in? I made it through the sequence where the blocks rearrange themselves and you arrive at a platform across a big gap.

I absolutely loved this game. It took me about five hours to finish, and according to some reading I have done, I found all but one easteregg. The stated influence of the manga Blame! is absolutely overwhelming if you know it, and even if not, the visuals are just outstanding. The platforming however, even if I found the controls to be quite responsive, is at times frustrating.

EDIT: Thanks for playing this and giving it more exposure. Sadly the "not a game" crowd is already hard at work.

In case anyone was wondering, the word 'naissance' is Latin and means something along the lines of: To bind with twine and beat with wooden sticks. It was often used by landowners when their serfs would mount livestock for fun, or just misbehave in general. "A naissance upon you!", the landowners would shout just before having the misbehaving serf tied with twine and beat with wooden sticks.

It's also directly related to a word I'm sure you're all familiar with--yes you guessed it--nuisance! So the next time you are a being a nuisance you should spare a thought those who weren't so lucky to escape the dreaded twine and wooden sticks.

I finished this game the day it came out... it's definitely very intriguing. I was actually thinking about sending it your way @patrickklepek, but I forgot... good thing you showed it :D

I also found the first person platforming coupled with some pretty unforgiving checkpoints to be quite frustrating, and I hoped there would be at least some more narrative, which is really rather barren.

All said, the game is definitely worth exploring, as mentioned the architectural design is truly breathtaking.

@cale: It is also french for "birth". Combined with the following capital E it might mean electronic birth or birth into an electronic, technical world. But i might overreach with that.

This game looks extremely interesting from its setting, but a lot of its trailer seemed to suggest it was mostly a first person puzzler, which turned me off to buying it.

The setting reminded me of the world of some manga called BLAME! .. which imo is a visually exciting manga, but very nonsensical, hard to follow, and .. really kinda bad.

Yeah it definetly has a striking look, though I'm pretty rarely into puzzle games and I didn't find the mechanics seen in the quicklook very compellng. I'll still put it on my wish list for now, in case I ever get in the mood for it.

Looks cool although the music was a little weird. I liked it, it reminded to me of the Vangelis soundtrack for Blade Runner actually, but it seemed a lil out of place. Though with how this game seems to operate I imagine thats deliberate.

Somehow environments like this are always far more unsettling than the typical dark, grungy and bloody horror/sci fi environments. See no reason to buy the game though, I really need a story payoff and more than just exploring and feel like I've already experienced what it has to offer after watching a few minutes. Wish it were a scifi horror movie instead.

You generally can't change the gender of a noun, unless it designs something animate that can be either male or female (like the words for teacher, friend or cat for instance), and naissance is already a feminine noun so that would be redundant anyway.
