But on the other hand, it's weird how all the search input uses that linear, alphabetic system... I thought we stopped using that around the PSX era when we realized our controllers support more than one axis of movement. That's a really stupid thing to revert back to. It's not like they need to conserve space, looking at the rest of that interface!

I love Star Trek 4, by far my favorite Star Trek Movie.

Why are they saying the premium themes stiull work? The only thing they add to the new one is the background of avatars in your friends list. And since I'm using the Guide-menu, I don't see that, ever.

As far as I'm concerned, these themes basically don't exist anymore.

Eh...Considering that I only use my 360 for playing games, I won't be seeing much of the ads that people complain about. *shrug* Works for me.

Thats why it's almost 2012 and you still don't have party chat or anything resembling a modern day voice communication/group play solution on a platform.

We don't have party chat? The only thing we're missing is cross-game chat and that's not even considered missing out.

And, BIG SUPRISE, there are still lots of single player games nowadays that don't require any form of (voice) chat. So unless you're a hardcore game that grew up with Halo, having slightly superior voice/communication option isn't worth shellling out $60 a year for, you could buy a damn game for that price and then some. But whatever, that next $10 price hike will take YOU for a hike.

You seem to be trolling pretty hard. The $60 price point is perfectly fine. I don't play too many multiplayer games but as a person who has friends I still would like cross game chat to talk to them. You know, to be social. Your logic is that if you are playing a single player game you shouldn't be allowed to talk to people? Being a gold member also nets you plenty of amazing deals on Xbox live Arcade games and DLC.

It's still no XMB but I do think it's overall better than the previous dash.

Would be nice if they'd just let you order the menus however you'd like, so I could put Social to the left of Home and Games to the right. Those are what I access the most -- my friends list and checking up on new releases. Still an improvement over automatically starting you on a row full of ads though.

No sir, I don't like it. Then again, I haven't liked it since they started throwing in tons of arbitrary shit that had nothing to do with gaming, and it's officially way beyond the point where the system has less to do with games than it does random bullshit. If they cut it down to like three tabs, cut out the trendy web2.0 bullshit, and kept the same style, maybe.

Why the hell can I still not choose which notifications I want and when I want them? I don't care when my friends sign on while I'm watching Netflix but I might when playing games. Maybe I only want notifications for messages instead of the sign on spam. Seems so basic yet still ignored.

Props to Microsoft for constantly making the UI better, it really sucks when I try to do stuff on my PS3, very slow and dated.

OK, I'm gonna say it - It's nice that it's there and all, but how is Cloud Saving that big a deal to anyone who doesn't work in gaming media? How many people are working on more than one or two 360s?

Also, I gotta check if this thing still supports USB keyboards for text because that on-screen text entry is rancid.

PS3 is really looking good these days. Way to go microsoft.  Crap it up until the competition looks like bronzed design gods.

Is Live not working for anyone else? When I turned on my xbox, it said I had an update, then I got the "cannot connect" error.

I checked and none of my internet vacuum tubes are broken, so it must be on Microsoft's end.

You know what else is incredibly stupid besides 80x80 jpgs costing money? Having to pay to play online.

But I'll do it, I want to finally play me some more Halo.
