The "art style" of this game looks terrible, like needles in your eyes, whoever made these art assets should STOP it reminds me of a game from the BAD part of 90's computer games. The whole part of being a dog and being so low to the floor having to aim up at everything and everything has to aim down at you seems to get dumb fast.

Theres so much potential in the concept, but boy did they do a botch job of pulling it off which makes it even sadder.

It felt like there were a lot of times you could cheese guys by just keeping them outside the screen. Which seems like a pretty cheap way to get through, but better then trying to dodge and jump around on a small screen.

Doesn't really look fun, reminds me of strange GBA games but with much longer levels and much more difficult enemies. And the graphics look like Frisky Dingo?

To be fair, this looks about a hundred times better than A Valley WIthout Wind art-wise. I suspect neither game is that fun to play though.

I feel like in their desire to rush to their objective they were missing some key aspects of the upgrade and item system. I can't say that for certain but they should have at least looked through all of the upgrades before making a choice and there was definitely some sort of crafting system involved since they could break down the items they had. Maybe the whole thing would have been a lot easier if they had first taken the time to prepare. It's like they took a tough quest but then didn't do any sort of prep work for it. But I don't blame them honestly. The poor animations and overall look and feel of the game made me initially think it was some sort of silly platformer as well.

Why does a game that looks so dull gameplay wise is on a quick look while something like Aces Wild Manic Brawling Action is ignored ? Not saying that the two can be compared but Aces Wild isnt getting much publicity and that's an injustice. Hope someone in the crew will give it a try it.

Thanks to this post, I now own and am enjoying Aces Wild. Thanks!

It looked like there was an option to fabricate both the Machine Gun and Health packs

And none of the three of them noticed it even though they opened the menu multiple times. And when they picked nano from the terminal they hacked they got 100/100 nano power or whatever. Obviously you use that to fabricate stuff. It's a little obtuse but it's nothing that taking 3 seconds looking at the interface couldn't have showed them.

Doesn't seem that interesting to be honest though

It's crazy that I dislike the phrase "to be honest" so much that it makes me annoyed at opinions I, too, hold.

Also, that is a very yonic curtain.

Sadly, this looks like hot garbage. Jump puzzles, offscreen shootouts, archaic save system, simple tunes, needlessly wordy dialogue and terrible documentation... all of which should become apparent after watching a playtest for more than 10 minutes. So sad. I was looking forward to this.

I've been playing this today, and it's actually pretty fun. There's a lot of exploration and side quest stuff that doesn't really get shown here that would have given them a lot more supplies, and the ability to break down and fabricate items has a tutorial near the start of the game that I guess Drew glossed over. The combat is just passable, but better once you get more weapons (of which they passed 2 in the quick look), but it plays a bit like a more wordy metroidvania with a mission-based structure, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit. The upgrades are all quite cool and meaningful as well.

I feel like this game could have been pretty fun if they tweaked the gameplay a bit. I'm thinking things like:

- Ditch the overheat on shooting the basic weapon, it's just not fun.

- Make enemies and their projectiles slower (and maybe slow the player to compensate). I think it would be really fun to dodge projectiles while returning fire but everything moves way too fast.

- Pull the camera out a little bit, every single enemy seems to leap out of nowhere. This might be less of an issue if the action was slowed down a bit though.

Basically If it was fun to run and gun things, it would be way easier to overlook things like the annoying foreground elements and drawn out conversations. I honestly don't have much problem with the art and music, though that "doo doo, doo" did get tiresome quickly.

Being a short little dog with a turret on its back is almost like being a Blaster Master tank, in theory.

If they had made the combat more like that instead of the "shoot at guys off camera in rooms perfectly barren of cover," it might have been a much cooler idea.

I like their spirit, though. "Three Laika games, you guys! Why not? Fuck it!!"

Man, saying that the combat could be better when playing with the sticks instead of a keyboard and mouse is like saying that Half Life 2 has shitty combat because it doesn't play as well with a gamepad.

And then the indie game gets flagged by everyone that sees this as having shitty combat. Well done. I guess next time the devs should just support K&M and be done with it.

Yeah, the combat difficulty seems like the kind of thing where the devs played it in a bubble and it seems reasonable to them, but they've played it for hundreds of hours. I don't even see how you're expected to handle most of those combat encounters given the crazy fast bullet speed of enemy shots and how few shots the shield blocks.

Nonetheless, Drew, Vinny, and Brad did miss some stuff with how to fabricate items. I'm sure having health items mitigates some of the difficult. Even though the game is kinda rough, I still think no game would give you that much machine gun ammo if you weren't already supposed to have a machine gun.

Interesting concept but the level design and difficulty curve seem super frustrating.
