It's a shame Platinum/Clover has always had a bad record of releasing their games at the worst time possible. The game will go unnoticed and unbought. I've been really enjoying it.

Really interested in knowing what the hell is the deal with this game. Probably won't get me to buy a WiiU, though.

This game is closer than DMC/Bayonetta than Pikmin, just so you know what to expect.

This is a really good game, quite deep combat system too which might put some people off initially. But it is really great and has an awesome vibe. Sucks the sales are struggling!

The problem with these types of QLs is that you never get a feel for how deep the mechanics go. I watched a vid of one and it's amazing what you can do in this game.

I'm loving this game so far, played one more stage than the one shown in the QL. The last part of operation 001 was incredible.

Brad: "Never bring a sword to a hand fight" made me laugh nice and loud.

Yeah, but do you think a normal video review would give you that understanding?

At a certain point, you just have to play the game yourself. 1 hour of video is more than most sites are gonna give you.

I wonder if this is better than the previous hundred.

It definitely looks better than the other big Quick Look they released today. But then again, Platinum never disappointed me yet, Rockstar is pretty much only disappointments post-Vice City.

You definitely have to play the game yourself, or at least watch a "Let's Play" to give yourself a better understanding of these games. One of the major problems I have with reviews is how misleading/uninformative they can be, combined with the fact some readers base their decisions on them. For fighting games and P* games in particular, you cannot trust the writing you read or the videos you watch. When you write for a general audience, much of the details are lost.

As a fan of Super Sentai/Kamen Rider, and Platinum, this looks pretty awesome. Whenever I get a Wii U (probably closer to Smash Bros.) I'll definitely pick this up.

That on rails section was kind of painful to watch knowing what needed to be done. Really appreciate Vinny's patience/enthusiasm, though. It's a great game, but there's a lot to come to grips with.

Glad there are already people linking Saur and Chipcheesum's videos in here. This game is amazing and PACKED with content. One of those games where watching a first timer play and watching an expert look like two completely different games.

I think that video does a great job of showing the issues that the gaming press has with games that are heavy on combat mechanics and systems. There are games that demand a certain level of skill and execution to have an enjoyable experience and if reviewers are trying to get through the game with single attacks and pikmin like tactics then they missed the whole point of the game.

I like that they pretty much kid-friendly Bayonetta, although it's sorta strange that they're making both this and Bayonetta 2 at the same time.

The game does an exceptionally poor job of teaching it's systems to players. It's hard to blame people for not playing "properly."

As much as I love the style and ideas in this game, it's a bit of a mess in a lot of ways.

That and Nintendo hasn't done a very good job, IMO, of promoting this game or communicating to people what it really is.

When playing the demo, I got really upset because I got overwhelmed by everything; enemies thrown at me in numbers, me trying to make shapes and failing while being attacked, my timing being horrible etc.

I dunno. If critics are not playing "properly" as a result of wanting to finish it as quickly as possible so that they can write their review and move on I'd say it might be fair to blame them for not playing "properly".

I agree that both Platinum and Nintendo have done a crappy job explaining and marketing this game but I'm tired of the argument that critics are "just people like you and me giving their opinion". They're supposed to be professionals. They're getting paid to do this and what they do effects how developers get paid. Is it really too much to ask for a little patience and effort?

@professoress: That's a fair complaint for reviews, but in this case I don't think Vinny is trying to blitz through the game.

My point is just that if you're a normal person playing through a game at a normal pace and you don't understand the mechanics, there's a good chance that it's the game's fault for not explaining itself properly (Which I'd argue is the case for this game).

It seems weird that they would go through the trouble of putting your mixing pot down on the controller screen and making the user actually mix the stuff...by pressing a button instead of shaking the controller. It's one of the rare instances where waggle controls would actually be more immersive to the experience.

Anyway, this looks charming in a Saturday morning cartoon kinda way. I'll definitely have to grab this if I ever get a Wii U.
