I wasn't expecting anything great but...man. This is going to be a contender for most disappointing game for sure. Good chance of being the winner too.

Heart breaking

One last poop slung against the Tony Hawk wall before the contract runs down. We hoped for more, realistically expected much less, and from this Quick Look, got even less than that again.

Guess they didn't want to bow out on a good game because then they'd have a great skating game engine with no property to use it with.

Jeff just wouldn't end the Quick Look. He kept pushing on, hoping it might get better and nobody helped him. Nobody.

It's really depressing to hear how sad this game is. This had promise, and didn't deliver.

awe, i was hoping for a good come back.

having no experience with tony hawk i should try this just to see if i actually like it.

So depressing this one. I think a Tony Hawk game could totally be worth 60 dollars, but this one just barely feels like anything. As far as I can tell from the quick look there is some bland levels with a bunch of jumping into missions that are all basically collect a million of this floating item around the map....

Fans of THPS1-4 are weeping into their beers right now. One positive to come out of this release, is the fond memories of the old THPS games have been reinvigorated. Hell, THPS1 looks 100x better than this (even without the manuals and reverts)

@ripelivejam: NO! No no, no no no no. This is not even remotely close to the style & gameplay of THPS1-3 the old fans love.

I can't see how it could happen...but, I hope Tony didn't play this full release prior to launching and say 'yeah, good to go'...

At least they got a nice dinner out of this game. I don't know why Activision would even bother if they weren't aiming for quality.

It would serve people well to play Tony Hawk 4 or Tony Hawk Underground before touching Tony Hawk 5.

Tony Hawk has officially gone Sonic Tier. No... that's unjust to Sonic. There were at least a couple of decent Sonic games in the last couple of years.

This is bumming me out so hard right now. I should've known better than to hope for something that doesn't resemble the flaming pile of crap this turned out to be :/

Last game I played and enjoyed was Project 8. It wasn't bad. It just had a shitty frame rate.

The Verge described this as "a dumpster fire on wheels".

I think that's putting it lightly.

I played the shit out of thps1-3...so by the time 4 was released, I had thps fatigue. I really need to hook my PS2 back up and play more of 4

Playing as Lil Wayne is hilarious. But Jesus Christ, fuck Lil Wayne.

there doesn't seem to be enough grinding the power lines between buildings to garner my interest, no jumping between boats with half-pipes as edges, no finding aliens in a slightly hidden corridor in that house, no funny npcs, no environment destruction :(

Edit: hmm maybe the future levels will bring that, have to wait for review

This is just heart-breaking.

I was a fan of the Tony Hawk games far longer than the series merited my loyalty. I enjoyed them all though. THPS, THUG, THAW, I even liked Project 8 and whatever the Wii game was called. Everything up until RIDE and SHRED, I really liked.

This seems profoundly disappointing. :(

Oh man, I was expecting this game to be pretty mediocre from what I'd seen, but I wasn't expecting the technical issues like framerate, and the weird online integration. If it worked I'd probably pick this up if it was about $20-30 even though it's pretty barebones, but with these issues I don't know if I still would unless it was on sale for about 5 bucks.

It's pretty sad that this series ends with this thing.

Just saying, less than $60 will get you a PS2 off eBay and your pick of the good Tony Hawk games.

The first level of the first game had transforming elements: you could destroy walls, set off helicopters, and just generally wreck things. This game has ice cream cones and marshmallows to collect.
