Quick Look: Trials Fusion

Danny has such good chemistry with the GB guys that he is basically already an honorary member now. They might want to seriously consider getting him moved from GS to GB officially, but I am sure there is some corporate bureaucracy reason to why its not as easy as it sounds.

Damn it, now I have that title music stuck in my head. So dumb but so funny.

I think Gamespot needs Danny a whole lot more than Giant Bomb needs him. Dude is one of the few bright rays of sunshine among some editors who still aren't entirely sure what a camera is and how to behave in front of it.

Sooo.... I never really played a Trials game before. I think I played the XBLA demo when it first came out but not a lot. Where should I start with this series?

This makes me wish trials on PC wasnt an unoptimized mess.

Not impressed on the technical side. They were showing the PS4 version here, right? There were sporadic framerate drops and why the heck is there texture streaming (pop-in) on a machine with 8GB of memory? Texture streaming was a method to deal with the low video memory of last gen consoles. No reason it should exist here.

Yes Yes... keep slowly stealing Danny away from GS.

It's definitely a perfect match, but it's also definitely going to happen. GS seems to be betting big on him recently. Hosting their weekly show, has his own segment, etc.

I would at least like to see GB rope him in once in a while for a Bombcast when they are down to 3 dudes - though I can understand why it's easier for him to drop in on a single QL instead of a 3 hour podcast.

Danny is like the Cappadonna of Giant Bomb these days.

Whether it's past, present, or fusion, man and machine, power extreme. I just wanted to say that I like Trials! I like danger, I like fire, I like nitro, I like getting wild. I like a bit of blast, I like taking it fast, I like going to the end and doing it with no class.

@humanity: I agree. I would be interested to hear what Brad heard about the game. I think Trials Frontiers is great fun on the iPad even if it's F2P.

Yea that was pretty funny especially at the end when they passed that menu three times in a row. I was sure one of them was going to be like, "Oh THERE it is!" But they didn't. Chalk it up to playing on camera I guess.

@sweetz: I think the frame rate drops where on the video, I Havn't seen any of that when playing. The texture pop in in wierd though. That along with the really long loads when you select a bike makes me think the game needs a patch or two.

PS: Brad is bad at games.

I like the part where they theorize about what you unlock from the iPhone game tracks when it says right there on the screen that you get a new suit.

Jeff caught a bad case of the Trails Fever and had to use his sick days.

I was really looking forward to it, but something about the trick system scares me away. Just seems so haphazard for a game series built on precision.

And what the hell was Brad thinking, getting into a race with two racing EXPERTS?

Hopefully he doesn't end up driving a cab in Baltimore for a year or two.
