Quick Look: Vintage Hero

I was kind of keen on this game until I saw the input delay. Can't have that in my platformers. :(

I tried playing Super Mario Brothers 3 on my older HDTV through the Wii's virtual console. It took me awhile to figure out why I was doing so terribly; it had some severe input lag. Classic pixel perfect platformers really depended on that instant input to be functional at all.

In a day and age where you can get some amazing games for dirt cheap thanks to Humble Bundles and Steam Sales, a crappy product even for a dollar, isn't a great value proposition. The latest Origin bundle gives you access to some really great games for just a few dollars alone even if you don't bother with the Origin part.

Hey guys, it's the developer here. Wow, thanks for the quick look, I'm honored! I'm finding the delay you're getting really puzzling though. I haven't experienced it or really heard anyone with that problem. I'm not doing anything weird processing the jump or anything.

I'll need to look into it because I can see the lag your getting but it's not that way when I play it. Is there possibly anything in your setup (HDTV or LCD processing) that might be the cause? I'll keep trying to look for a solution in the meantime. Hmm, I'm really bugged out about it now... Anyway, thanks so much for making the video!

Oddly, you can get a forgotten badly-played NES platformer from a yard sale of the same quality for the same $1!

So a laggy game with shitty pixel graphics aping a series with dozens of entries that most people got sick of anyway (I myself completed all Mega Man games except for the Japan exclusives and Battle Network)? Sounds great.

Actually, it does. I wanted to make a second comment now that I've watched it all saying how this looks like one of those fucking awful XBLIG games and what do you know? Turns out it IS one of those fucking awful XBLIG games. It getting any exposure makes me outright angry. This deserves NO attention. The only thing I can see going for it is the decent music.

as someone who does pixel art as a hobby im always irked by the weird outer edge shading that makes things look embossed

I feel like the its only a dollar excuse is no good these days, there is just a point when my time is worth more than playing a meh looking game for free.

Messed around with the demo, didn't have any problems jumping.

Can't beat 80 microsoft points.

The Mega Man inspiration is just a little too strong, gets a little gross at some point. That aside, this just looks bad.

Man...Summer of Arcade has really gone downhill.

This reason why you guys are lagging is because you guys are using a fancy Hd Flatscreen tv,I'm currently using my older Crtv and it feels perfect!,never replace the perfect.
