The ranking of the games is the best part of the whole series.

I mean there is only one game better than this and that's Samurai Shodown II. Ukyo Tachibana!!!!!!!!

This game felt pretty bad on a gamepad last time I tried it.

Never quite get when someone is "dead" at the end of the second round. Sometimes they stick around, sometimes carried out, sometimes they get slice in half.

I really hope they do a lot of these. Any series that resembles the mythical "Jeff Gerstmann Hall of Fame" is aces.

I'm sure this has been debated at length, but is Windjammers a fighting game? Is it a candidate for Ranking of Fighters?

I would really love if this came like twice every week. It's not long, and really there are so many fighting games out there. I want to see a giant whiteboard eventually, with Jeff and Jason actually agonizing over placing at points. Maybe getting some guests like a Seth Killian to throw in his two cents.

Is it just me or do they keep increasing the number of leading zeroes?

@luck702: Well, according to the popular video game website Giant Bomb dot com, Windjammers is categorized as an action and sports game. According to Wikipedia though, it is, and I quote, a type of large sailing ship, with an iron, or for the most part, hull. (If you don't belive me, that's the first thing it brought up when I searched Windjammers and pressing Enter)

They should totally consider it though... or if not, I'm sure it will be at the top of Jeff's "Ranking of Non-Fighters" list. When they get to that series is another question, though.

For a brief moment when watching the background image here, I thought I had missed another Last Ninja stream.

This game has a lot of neat things happening. The combat looks faster than Toshinden 3.

The normal hits look great, with that slowdown happening at big shots.

The fact that every contestant has weapons and can lose them is a neat touch that can really change the dynamic of the match.

And the music and presentation feels very japanese and fits the game.

Watching this makes me want to dig out the Dreamcast and fire up Capcom Vs SNK (both 1 and 2). Used to have Haohmaru on every team I brought into arcade mode.

Not in versus mode though: That was Yamazaki all the way.

Can't wait to see them try forgotten, mediocre fighting games like Eternal Champions and Fight Club.

I have a feeling this series will end when they run out of space on the whiteboard.

I want to see them play Mace: The Dark Age.

I'd really like to see some of the weird PSX fighting games like Destrega and Evil Zone.

I played most of my SamSho 1 on the SNES, but don't 100% recall what characters were missing from it.

Looking forward to the next 997 episodes. :)

This is a game that I actually want to try and play. The last game was not.

Hopefully they play terrible games like... Castlevania. Judgment and War Gods.

I think Jeff summed it up well and mirrored how I felt about SNK fighters. This was the game that definitely sho(w)ed that there were other fighters that challenged for my quarters.

I loved this episode...good show chaps.

Would love to see a saturn fighter up next. They had some good ones.

I've never played one of those games, but I love the look. Those samurais are about as badass as it gets, especially Haohmaru who might as well be Mitsurugi, or I guess the other way around.

I've always loved the way this game looks. It looks like what a "videogame" looks like in my mind.

I remember seeing this for the first time in a Walmart lobby. Thinking about it now, that may have been the first time I ever saw a Neo-Geo machine. My thoughts were, in order, "whoa" and "cool."

Calling Fight Club mediocre is... generous, at best.

You can't even punch people's clothes off in this game.

This was a pretty great episode, lots of nostalgia on my part, keep it up guys.

Not that far into the video, but It's driving me nuts that nobody is commenting on how cool it is that the characters jump right from the select screen into the stage.
