WHOA! They got a female! I've heard about those things.

Set your mic level properly, the guests hit the limiter every time they slightly raise their voice, the host on every word while speaking normally. The podcast being recorded at reference level doesn't mean the mics are and listening to distorted voices on a podcast isn't fun. I'm gonna listen anyway, but please "GET YO SHIT STRAIGHT!" next time.

Welcome 8-4 podcasters! I listened to a couple of the podcasts and I really enjoyed it. This also just makes sense to have a fresh perspective on Japanese games/culture here on GB. And I'll be studying near 8-4 Play this September!

I think they're going to shit themselves when they find out some of us live in Asia. I live in China, and I know that a few other people here live in China.

Edit: who's the dick who loves spoiling stuff? At about 30 minutes in, some asshole spoils a fez puzzle, and acts like he is "better" than anyone else. What the hell is his problem? - That guy annoys me. Everyone else seems cool.

Good thing I decided to check the bombcast tab on a Saturday, near forgot about this. Looking forward to listening

Agreed. I now have a new podcast to listen to. And they had Cheapy D on a few episodes ago, which is the only other gaming podcast I listen to besides Giant Bomb. Now it's a perfect linked trifecta!

Can the artist that did the art for the bombcast page please also do some sweet renditions of the 8-4 crew? Just the logo up there doesn't jive.

Hey dudes don't spoil stuff. Just because you wouldn't be able to figure out a crazy Fez puzzle doesn't mean your listeners wouldn't have!! I'm a programmer and I actually know binary so now I just feel cheated out of figuring out a really cool puzzle naturally. Please at least edit future podcasts to remove accidental spoilers for games people are still playing. :(

Also DMC's music has ALWAYS been that shitty grungerock shit so this new stuff feels EXACTLY like the old stuff to me.

DMC3 could have had Dragula as a battle song and I wouldn't have noticed. :E

I really dug the feel of this with two exceptions:

1) The off-hand comment that "Americans could never design anything that cool" regarding the Dark Souls monster design. Now while I agree those designs are EXCELLENT, c'mon duder: sorry American monsters don't all look like genitals, I guess there IS a culture more afraid of sexuality than ours. And 2)

This. And this I didn't mind because one of the others calls BS, but the dude is just SO ADAMANT that Dante is somehow "less cool" in this incarnation. He's ALWAYS been super cheese-ball EXCEPT in DMC2, which is widely regarded as the worst of the series (a belief I subscribe to). From scoffing and taunting the magma spider in the first game to chowing down on pizza and exclaiming "THIS PARTY'S GETTIN' CRA-ZAY!" before starting his juke box in the third, Dante has ALWAYS seen himself as more badass than he really is.

But it's kinda true. Western monster designs in games usually lack any kind of weirdness which makes them a little bit boring in my opinion. There's these stereotypes (orcs, ogres, elves...) and those get recycled mostly without expanding on them in an interesting way.

Those are European designs, technically. I'm thinking of HP Lovecraft or the menagerie of weirdness from Mass Effect like the Elcor or Hanar.
