Does the console version have the optional damsels? I've never seen the man or the dog.

I think Patrick's weakness is trying to kill everything by throwing rocks. I always have much much better luck with the whip or jumping.

The phone call to Max reminded me of the opening to Let's Have A Kiki.

They do. You can find them under the options menu.

You got greedy Patrick, you already had so much money but you wanted more. Greed was your downfall.

This is my favorite feature on the site now. At this rate I'm sure it won't take long for Patrick to beat Olmec. I'm hoping he'll keep going with it until he finishes Hell.

If you go to 22:15 of my run of today's challenge (http://www.twitch.tv/johnlongview/b/493537888), you can watch me in the same situation as Patrick: no bombs, and I can't remember what happens when you pick up the Idol in the Temple levels.

Spoiler: I decide not to pick it up, and go on to beat Olmec with no bombs, and 1 heart left.

If you open up those shortcuts, you can practice the later areas. Much quicker to learn enemy behaviour and traps that way.

I can't speak for the PS3 / Vita but I know the 360 allows the different damsels like the Steam version. I've used the all 3 / random option in both. Have to imagine it's the same on the other platforms, everything else is.

This is a fun series and I'm glad it's serving as a tutorial for some people to get more into Spelunky themselves, but @patrickklepek, I think you should kind of... stop explaining things as you play. I'm not trying to say that in a mean "I HATE YOU I HOPE YOU FREEZE IN CHICAGO GET OFF THE SITE HIPPIE" way or whatever. I just mean it in a "consider your audiences" kind of way. Because you have two audiences here:

On one hand, you've got people like me who've already played a bunch of Spelunky, so we already know what everything does. I'd assume this is most of the people watching, but I don't know.

But on the other hand, you've got the people who are new to Spelunky and don't quite get what's going on and should find out on their own. Like you've acknowledged a few times in the stream, the fun of a game like this or Dark Souls is discovering stuff yourself. They'll pick up enough of how things work just by watching you, but save some surprises for if/when they play for themselves. Like, it would've sucked if somebody had explained to you what the golden idol trap is in the temple before you went in there to grab it and died, right?

Just a suggestion for the future. I know it's tough trying to come up with stuff to talk about when you're by yourself, so narrating what you're doing is easy, but yeah. Just a suggestion.

I really wish this spam would stop. Fact is... Rush64.com is hosted in Wilmington, Delaware, United States at 192.31.186.43 and expires on 2014-05-22. There will probably be another to pop up afterwards... The Internets is getting to be really exhausting to navigate "around". But....I will always love The Giant Bomb!

PSN version has the alternate skins. Saving a pug makes is better.

Can you telefrag the shopkeeper without a penalty in this version? I keep thinking of that whenever I see Patrick take the teleporter.

Same here. I don't really mind it myself; it's just more that when he mentioned that half the fun in Spelunky is discovering stuff for yourself, I started thinking about how much that could take away from the experience of people unfamiliar with the game. Of course, those people shouldn't be watching this, but sometimes people need a push to get a game for themselves.
