It baffles my mind that subscriber video's are still a thing. Ad revenue has to be far and away the largest source of income, yet shit like this drives people like me away from this site for content. Anyway. You guys got your click. Guess i'll go somewhere else.

Hell yeah Daily Dota! I didn't know it was pushed up. I wanted to watch it live, but I missed it because I was outside with my dog. These quick uploads are great!

I hope this happens with other multiplayer games in the future, like BF4, COD, FIFA, Street Fighter. Really good way to see how a multiplayer game is, and banter is always good.

@paulwade1984: There are plenty of videos posted every day for free members. If not being able to watch Brad be sub-par at Dota 2 keeps you from enjoying the other content then I don't really know what to tell you.

And no, ad revenue isn't how Giant Bomb makes most of its money. Subscribers are what kept Giant Bomb alive long enough to be picked up by CBS.

What is there to retort? He is clearly whining about not being able to view it. He doesn't like their policy because it doesnt benefit him, so he wants to change it. If he thinks there is a better way to run the business, then he can go somewhere that runs it that way.

Is the archive of this on twitch not available for everyone for free? I thought it was, just like tnt. That would make subscription complaints something of a moot point.

Getting back to actual Dota 2 talk...

You gotta be more aware of the items you have. Twice in the first game, Brad, you had a fleeing Razor that could have easily been killed if you had used your Diffusal Blade active. Riki basically cannot chase unless he has a slowing item, which is what mainly for on him.

As for a mid build, even though Luna usually isn't played mid, the typical mid item build is a set of tangos and three branches. That will leave you with about 300 gold that you then use toward a bottle purchase.

This is exactly what I was hoping, that you guys would pick up some tips at the same time I'm learning the game. There's such an insane number of intricacies in the game it seems like you could never absorb them all. Glad you found it helpful.

Huh, I knew Warlock was good but I've yet to try Omniknight - he looks quite helpful to have around.

So, is Puck like fotm right now? I'm in the process of trying to learn this game, and am finding Puck to be the most fun I'm having with the game.

I don't play DOTA, but I enjoy my daily DOTA.

I think I'm having a hard time remembering to use items because I've been playing a different hero almost every match, so I'm constantly using a different build and therefore not getting the repetition you need to learn things like that by rote. Doesn't help that even when I do play the same character, my items end up in different slots half the time so I need to use different hotkeys as well.

Guess it's just something that will come with an inordinate amount of practice.

I suck huge balls PLAYING this game, but I sure love watching it. Excellent feature.

@paulwade1984: They have said openly that without the subscribers there wouldn't be a giant bomb. Saying that, as a subscriber I would be very happy for them to scrap subscriber only content.

Are YOU joking? He didn't say subscriber income singlehandedly kept Giant Bomb in the black. He said subscriber revenue kept them afloat, probably because it gave their income a much needed shot in the arm along with whatever other revenue streams they had (like ads). Jeff himself has said this in his "Jar Time" videos, in the past.

They make one or two subscriber-only bits of content every week, to complement the 90-95% that is free to everyone. Pay for it, get over it, or give your clicks to someone else. They don't owe you anything, and vice versa.

I hope they don't, because for every person like you or I who would keep paying just to keep ads away, or to support the guys, there's five others who just want the content, and have an adblocker.

And as Jeff said in his last Jar Time - subscriber revenue is critical to them, in trying to make the business case for their site, and do more crazy shit. I want these guys to succeed and keep entertaining me, and if I need to pay $5 a month, and they need to put a few things behind a paywall to do that, then so be it.

The internet has given some people this sense that they are entitled to whatever content they want.

@paulwade1984: Many subscribers ( myself included) paid for thier subscriptions on an annual basis. that makes it kinda hard for them to just stop a feature that people have payed for.

I just noticed that every kill is displayed as "[player] just pwned [player]". I hate Dota 2 now.

Never played DOTA, but love this feature. And Kessler!

I believe that comes from the first Warcraft Dota, they just decided to stick with it.

This is a video that takes an hour or so out of Brad's day and maybe an hour of post time at most. It's really not that taxing on his resources, and a certain subset of GB's users (read: me) enjoy it a lot, so far.

The idea that people are offended by ongoing Dota content is a little silly when it's just a small series of videos. Imagine it as the Dota 2 Endurance Run/ Breaking Brad if you prefer - less angry now?

Also, to the dude who's offended at the 2% of this site's content that's behind paywalls? Read scotto's post, but also, know this: I don't like you.

@themasterds: O god the idea of a DOTA2 Endurance Run is both mind melting and awesome. How would we even define the run?

Really hope this sticks around and maybe gets into the point where BRad can kind of teach a hero? I'm planning on playing this a lot over the summer so yea.

Question: Are there items that you can only get from treasure chests? Or does every item in the game have a chance of dropping?
