@aziridine: They prevented 2 previous attacks by scanning and then preemptively sending an operative to thwart the cells, but I think that China cell popped up hours or days after Dan's $200 scan, and executed its attack a few days later. I think there is a variable timer on how long the EXALT sabotage takes, and it feels like it randomized the shortest possible time. They were doing everything right with EXALT and legitimately got pretty unlucky.

Also, yes, the game launched that corpse up into the sky. If they had quit the game and reloaded, it might've put his body back where it was supposed to be so he could be stabilized. Again, they legitimately got very unlucky. I've only seen the game lose track of corpse locations due to weird ragdoll physics 1-2 times ever.

"Everyone is shitty" Dan says, after taking every shot that's above 40% chance.

But honestly aside from that unfortunate bug everything went okay.

The Dan episodes of Exquisite Corp make me either marvel at him and his luck or I get insanely angry at his choices. I don't know what will happen this time.

Is it just me or Dan is kinda phoning it in lately? Maybe I'm missing the gimmick and he's suppose to be the one that sabotages the exquisite corpse for the lols.

I really like Dan when he commits to a bit, but now I'm kinda honestly a bit confused if this is that or the opposite.

For real though, these sub-40 minute episodes are killing me.

The Abomination was wearing a Normal Human Face Mask, because he would have needed to blend in on his spy mission.

About Woods: That seems to be a pretty common glitch, I had it happen twice during my run. Restarting the game fixes it most of the time and allows you to stabilize them.

So this happened in one of my games recently... A character was critically wounded and flew into the sky. I had to save, reload the game and that character ended up falling back down from the sky where they had been killed then I could pick them up. Super unfortunate.

I'm looking forward to vinny editing the flying corpse into next weeks intro.

I think I might just skip Dan episodes - rather than for his 'character', he's deliberately rushing as if he doesn't want to do it anymore :(

I know people like to talk about how Dan is just ludicrously lucky in this game but th is time he actually did play pretty well. Normally he's just a guber but this time he played aggressively but effectively. If not for the glitch it would have gone very well.

If this series ends without Dave Lang or Austin Walker showing up to out Dan as a Exalt Spy, I will be supremely disappointed ;)

WHAT THE FUCK WOODS ASCENDED INTO SPACE

With the experienced team he had aggression was needed to secure all the meld, and that bug is real dumb, he had more than enough medkits to deal with the situation. He handled everything well this time, the salty comments are ridiculous, a perfectly played game with no mistakes would be completely boring to watch, and this is not Impossible Ironman, its normal difficulty. We don't need things taking 4x longer using tactics meant to cope with enemies and odds they aren't facing.

I really like how the first fifteen minutes of this video are rapidly clicking through menu screens without reading them and Dan apparently retaining absolutely zero knowledge about the previous dozen missions he has done

That's a rough glitch. Never had that happen in hundreds of hours I've played :(

The only time Dan actually gets fired up and engaged in what's happening right now is to defend his actions and purge himself of all blame.

Like I think from this first turn I don't think Dan remembers that XCOM has a cover system

I can't tell if Dan's episodes are so quick because he just goes for one mission or if because he never stops to think about anything or let Vinny talk.

I love all 3 different styles, each one makes me bite my nails for entirely different reasons.

Dan's gimmick has definitely become more severe since this series started. I don't think his bravado really plays to the "he's a spy" theory either.

Man, Dan does not even care anymore. to be fair, him screwing up Vinny's micro-managing is a good thing, because the interesting part of this series was supposed to be each commander having their own style, which have all become homogenized into the Vinny-style at this point.

also In Dan's defense: this series has overstayed its welcome for me at this point. It did get me to buy and play through Xcom 1 and 2 though, so that's probably why.

That whole Exalt Cell was BULLSHIT! The only reason why it appeared was at the turn of the month, that's the only guess i have. That money would have been useful buildings and I was counting on Dan for it since he has a general sense on how and where to build stuff.

Hope the crew at least is able to afford a few more buildings cause it will need several more laboratories to speed up ship gun technology, since they haven't really captured any alien besides the campaign one.

Please tell me Vinny is going to step in on the last mission as kind of a "hold on kids, I got this one" moment.

So is EXALT like a monthly mission kind of thing? I'm perplexed by how they scanned (as recommended), found nothing, and then days later they get hit by an EXALT thing.

Also, that Woods glitch was a bummer. I actually kind of liked Dan's style this episode? He was aggressive (maybe a little too much) and boy, I had a nervous twitch every time he left someone out of cover, but I liked his approach and mentality.

They could sell all that exalt equipment. By now they have a ton.

Dan really does seem like he's been phoning it in over his last few episodes. Which I have to agree with some previous comments, is sort of worse than the earlier antagonistic Dan...

But still... Fixer gets results.

Dan's bravado style is starting to go in a bad direction, now that he's just trying to role play a strict tactical strategy game. Almost sent in shotgun-using Jason as the covert operative who ever gets a pistol, and decided MacGruber doesn't get the best usable weapon because it's "not in the spirit of the character."

I fear for the Monday 3 weeks from now.

Man, I forgot how weirdly buggy this game was. XCOM 2 is much better behaved at this point.

Got a little unlucky with that Exalt roll, but they did spin the globe a bit there, it was like a week of gametime. And then unlucky again with the glitch.

But then really lucky when no one took Abomination out, he was out in the open and had already taken one in the face. But no alien wanted to finish the job. The AI on normal is really forgiving sometimes.

I have complained about this series and Dan in the past (not for "wrong" playing).

Because at the time he seemed like he was like "Oh we're taping XCOM? Ugh, time to run dudes out into the fire, get this over with, play my heel role". Cheap heat, poorly executed.

Not this time. He's actually playing, and with his own playstyle, albeit one that is very risky not just to his mission but the entire campaign. That's fine, he doesn't remember enough details to play thoroughly, that's understandable. He's never going to remember high cover is X% defense, flying is Y%, what you can do before and after a move. He's Dan. If he played at home, do you think he'd stop and learn the right way?

At least he's seeming like he wanted to show up for work and play this game. For Dan, at least. On normal, that should be more than enough with their unstoppable a-team.
