Seems to have been a podcast for Gamespot. But was there a theme? Or was it just the precursor to the Bombcast? Fun show either way. It's great when the coasts crossover.

@tevor_the_third: The early years of the Hotspot (2005-2007) are definitely the precursor for the Giant Bombcast in the same way On the Spot was the precursor for a lot of Giant Bomb's live shenanigans. It was a lot shorter, more news-oriented, and usually had a rotating guest cast, but it's also where Jeff, Ryan, Vinny, Brad, Alex, and Rorie all got their start talking into microphones on the internet.

It might not be worth listening to the entire original run, but there are some clips that are still classics to this day, from their incredulity at the Korn + Haze marketing speak, to the ongoing saga of Gizmondo and the mysterious man only known as "Deitrich." I know there were a couple of "best-of" compilations that did a really good job of organizing them, but I'm not quite sure where to track them down anymore, alas.

Every time someone mentions Korn or (less so) Haze I'm expecting a call back to the Haze marketing speak.

Jeff did something very similar to what he was talking about near the end here when he showed a bunch of different ports of Donkey Kong Jr. I found it fascinating. I hope you flesh out this idea and do a series where you show one game and all the varieties of it you can find. It's a great idea and I'm fully on board.

First of all. This is amazing. I love this.

Secondly, I love that they think that Korn's most popular songs were from their debut album in 1994, except for Jeff who thinks ADIDAS is their most popular song.

From my recollection - as my musical tastes were forming around this time - and based on peak chart positions, Korn peaked with their 3rd and 4th albums:

Follow the Leader(1998) and
Issues(1999).

With HIT SONGS:
Got The Life,
Freak on a Leash (The kid on the playground imagery and music video that Vinny was referring to),

and Falling Away From Me, and Make Me Bad from Issues, (which was in my opinion a sea change for Korn, and the album in which I would lose interest in the band.)

I'm aware that Jeff and Vinny are probably more knowledgeable about Korn then they are letting on, and I'm also aware that I just wrote a wall of text about Korn in the year 2020. I just rarely have the opportunity to discuss the heyday of Korn. I apologize for wasting anyone's time that read this.

I'd take Brad's comment on avoiding international products right now with a grain of salt. I had VR prescription lenses from Poland on hold for many weeks but it lifted it sounds like right around the time Brad's ram came in. At the time they said they are blocked by US law, but those have been lifted so it sounds like you can get your international orders in alright.
