Great review, but reeeeally not a fan of this 360p crap going on with the site now.

It's sometimes hard to believe the game looks spectacular as Patrick says when the video is littered with compression artifacts. :/

The videos have always been 360p for non subscribers.

Another Nintendo game gets a free pass.

I get that the graphics aren't bad, but I'm sorry, it doesn't look as impressive as TP on the Cube. As for swinging in specific directions, games have already had that (Daggerfall and Morrowind come to mind).

I'm sure it's a great Zelda game, but I still don't see enough to differentiate it from the last 15 years of Zelda games, and I certainly don't see this as a sign that motion controls are ready to replace proper game pads. Hell, you can probably map the functions to buttons just as easily as Eujin did for Galaxy.

The motion controls feels GOOD, in a way I never thought Id admit. (Im not a Wii-hater but I rather play with a normal controller usually.) Could it be done with dual sticks a la FIght Night? Probably. Would it feel the same? No.

The game looks superb, in a way that Mario Galaxy looks great. Nintendo knows how to work around the hardware. I agree TP looks better though!

EDIT: Oh, TP.. TP looks WAY worse. WW looks better.

As for the actual game, I cant say yet (15h in), but the start is super slow and and basically you are correct. Its a 15 y old concept and it doesnt feel fresh anymore. It still very fun, its just that Ive had that kind of fun so many times already.

Well-written review, Patrick! I haven't played the series since Wind Waker, but at least this will give me a real excuse to break out the Wii, instead of just at parties.

I think the thing that gets me is how selective people are when levying the "unoriginal" accusation. The same people who're lambasting Tom McShea over at GameSpot for having the audacity to rate it 7.5 ("good" on their scale) are often the same people who complain about the Call of Duty franchise, which has actually refined the formula over the years, but won't admit that Nintendo's done nothing with Zelda in the past 15 years.

Not that I don't agree CoD could use a bit of freshening up, but I don't think I'm wrong in asking for consistency from people. If it's wrong in one case, it's wrong in them all.

Man, Patrick is so awkward, especially on camera.

Anyways, for some odd reason, I'm actually interested in this game. Haven't given a shit about any sort of Nintendo game since the SNES days, but the combat here seems pretty neat.

I assume it's because the Wii doesn't output to 720p?

Honestly, I completely disagree with Patrick about the game's visuals. I've seen them rendered at 1080p with some anti-aliasing on an emulator, and the difference is incredible. This game's art is being crippled by Nintendo's hardware decisions. I agree with most of the review though. gg.

I'm loving the game but I completely disagree on Patrick's point about the visuals. Even my mother walked in and said it looked like shit. Thankfully the gameplay more than makes up for it.

@YukoAsho: There's a lot more time between Zelda titles and the differences between its games are a good deal greater than the differences between the CoD games. Like, a lot greater. It's kind of insane to compare Zelda to Call of Duty.

Im about 7 hours into the game and overall I'm loving it. I still think Wind Waker is bar none the best looking zelda game in terms of style and graphics, but this game does look very beautiful and very colourful and so far I'm really into it.

I agree with Patrick on the controls as well. They feel very good during combat and make fighting a normal enemy fun again. Hell the first boss I found to be most unique zelda fight in quite some time.

My only complaint is that there is a LOT OF TEXT. As I've said I'm 7 hours in and I'd say 4 hours of that has been talking and more talking. It seams like they really want to feed you the story right up front. Not to mention Fi ( your "navi") really like to repeat herself. However I find her to be much more interesting so far from Midna and Navi.

Good Review Patrick overall.

Horrible video review from robot Patrick. Really shows how hard this stuff is compared to the rest of the crew.

Sure his written review is fine, but this video is dead. With those chosen video clips and game sounds. This just makes me think your being passive aggressive about hating this title. I also sense some deep seeded resentment towards Wii as a whole.

Don't mean to come off ugly, just didn't care for this video review. I'm sure Pat will get better with time, at putting these videos together.

I think it was good! Patrick talked with a nice pace, the video had some great editing and allthough it over all feels a bit slow, it doesn't really matter. They can't all be 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand-reviews either.

Stating your opinion about the quality of a video review = totally appropriate.

Taking time out of your day to personally insult someone who obviously put a lot of time and effort into this review = completely unnecessary.
