@voshinova: Vinny doesn't like going on film just to tear a game apart. Jeff does not have this problem.

This just looks incredibly pointless and boring right now, but who knows where it goes. Probably not far.

@voshinova: I feel like the unintended consequence of that feature is that all of these indie game quick looks are going to be open for a "why did they bother to do the full quick look?" debate.

@voshinova: To show the brokenness of some these games and to better inform the would be buyer. But yeah it sucks for the developer but at same time they put it on early access.

Plus I think allot of what decides the no show games come from personal interest and not necessarily quality or other factors but they key into decision too.

The "499/53" prompt was actually a "499/530" prompt, with the "0" cut off.

Time to watch that space trucker ep of cowboy bebop again

This looks like it could be kind of cool, I'm imagining it as a command and conquer type game but in first person and instead of mining spice[ or what ever c&c called their spice from dune] you mine asteroids. Needs a lot of work though by the looks of it so far.

oh boy and how!

Asteroids is my dad's favourite game. He's also played Space Invaders, which he quite liked (aka: 2nd best videogame of all time) and Pac-Man which he's not real crazy about. He also played a lot of Combat, but moreso as a fatherly responsibility than for fun, so I understand and sympathize with the fact that he barely remembers any of it.

I think he's heard of Centipede, but I don't think he's ever played it, and I'm not confident he'd be a fan if he did.

You're basically describing the Battlezone (coincidentally also a "remake" of an 80's classic, but actually successful at it) and Uprising series.

But, yeah, I agree. This has potential. Given the stuff we've heard from Atari recently, I would stay away from this in it's early access period, since their new CEO basically said in a recent interview himself that they're only interesting in money grabbing schemes at this point. If this ever gets finished and polished up, I'm certainly interested.

Some devs seriously abuse and exploit the early access system and this is one of them. There is no way that this should even be sold yet as there is basically nothing to it. While there are a few positive things to come out of early access, I feel like the vast majority feels like snake oil especially when it comes to survival games, yet people still blindly throw money at these things.

After the new Alone in the Dark being a generic multiplayer action horror shooter and this cashing in on the sandbox survival trend on PC, Atari seem desperate and confused.

I thought they were joking about this being an official Asteroids title until I heard them talking about it on the Bombcast. I still wasn't really sure until I saw the Atari copyright in-game.

Not a bad idea, just a boring product (for now) by the looks of it. Watching that map marker when they were moon truckin' change waypoint numbers seemingly at random was fun though

So, this is basically "err...um...w-what?" the game.

This game won't make it out of Early Access.

If you call it Space Rocks, Gary Whitta gets a taste.

This looks like Atari put a professional menu system on top of someone's weekend Unity project.

I literally had no idea this was an official Asteroids game until they said as much half an hour in. 90% of Early Access games seem awful, it's like the new phone marketplace.

I don't know why Atari put this out so early. This just doesn't have enough stuff to do currently.
