Unfinished: Eisenhorn: XENOS 04/14/2016

One of the most beloved Warhammer 40,000 characters is getting his own game. So don't mess it up!

Sometimes we look at a game before it's done. When that's the case? Well... it must be Unfinished.

To Vinny, the voice actor for Eisenhorne is Mark Strong. He was the main bad guy in the Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downie Jr., he was the narrator in Rock N' Rolla, and he was Merlyn in Kingsmen. I love his work.

He's most likely where all the budget went. Strong did win an Olivier for Best Actor last year for his performance in "A View From The Bridge", so he probably commands a pretty price. One of my favourite actors.

He also voiced the main character in W40K: Space Marine.

Edit: I'm beaten to this point by like 12 people, but hey if you sort your comments by Latest First, I'm still a pretty cool guy...

Bloom is wayyyy too high in this game and the contrast needs some serious work. Still seems promising.

This looks rough for a game that's supposed to be out in May. I'm guessing this is on Unreal which means it should look better than this even on a lower spec PC.

Any idea how much this will be selling for?

You know, as cool as Eisenhorn is, I think it's about time we get a Ciaphas Cain game.

I agree with some of the above, I think this would have been a great movie that I would watch, but not a video game that I would purchase and play.

@kid_gloves: The Ciaphas Cain novels are excellent introductions, as each book basically focuses on one specific aspect of the the Warhammer 40k universe. (There are also footnotes). Also, them being funny (Mostly sardonic black humor) helps alot too.

Don't forget the main motto of the Imperium "Burn the heretic, kill the mutant, purge the unclean"

I get that this is early on in his career, and he is pretty young, but Eisenhorn himself looks nothing like my memory from when I read those books. It's always a little upsetting when that happens.

Also, there is no way that they should be showing this off. It's in some sort of Alpha and I can't imagine that this is beneficial to their marketing.

Question to 40K fans.

I am extremely interested in getting into the 40K universe, but have absolutely no interest in the tabletop game. I adore the setting and everything I hear said about the universe, are the Eisenhorn books a good intro to the universe? As in do they do a good job of explaining stuff or do they assume you know the universe well already? What is a good starting point to getting into this stuff? Horus Heresy?

I already have read a lot of random stuff on the wiki about 40K because that a thing I do about basically everything.

The Gaunts Ghosts series is a real good place to start if you wanna get a feel for how much it sucks to be a regular human in the 40k universe. It's all about the Imperial Guard who are your standard human grunts. Real well written, you get to know some fun characters as the series progresses. Only downside is Space Marines are pretty much absent. Rynn's World is a great one off book about the Crimson Fists chapter of the Space Marines fighting orks. Gives a good look at what they're like and how they view/interact with normal humans.

This is also a great guide to getting started:
