Alex, the amenities system has replaced the happiness system in this game.

Really looking forward to this but having only gotten into Civ 5 after all the DLC was released I can't help but feel I should wait for some sort of complete edition with this. On a side note more Sean Bean in my video games please!

Do you have to click the Move button to move units? Can't you just right click or something?

Each time a new one of these come out, i wish that i could actually sit down and learn it. But its just so daunting.

@sto_ln: I mean it's their creative vision, so I don't think fans should dictate what inspirations they pull from.

But yeah it feels off to me because the quotes from the other games were remarkable because they exposed you to a variety of great literature, culture, and people you otherwise wouldn't know about and made you want to dig into their original source. Not saying their aren't great blogs out there, but typically that level of writing doesn't inspire that same urge. Here's hoping there's just very little of it in the game

Protip Alex. Try building a Scout or two early on in your build order so you can grab some of those early tribal villages.

In regards to Alex and Vinny passing query on struggle with smooth running. A lot of strategy games like Civilisation are not only GPU taxing, but are also heavily dependant on CPU processing.

The smart player waits for expansions and sales before hopping on a Civ game, but I can't help myself. Will probably pick it up at release.

Man, I wish Civ Rev would get added to the backwards compatible list.

My laptop can only run Civ 5 in strategic mode, which is just 2d-tiles in different colors. Does this game have this? If not, I'll have to buy a new PC.

I haven't actually seen it in anyone's preview play-throughs, but according to this strategic view is in the game.

Hmm I bought civ 4 and 5 and have played a few hours at best. I really like the previous games too, l played a lot of civ 2 and the console civ revolution [which was kinda of awesome]. I really need to play them sometime.

Looking forward to the twenty sick civs in Civ six.

@fredrikb: I remember seeing it in an LP of an early preview build by Quill18. It looked good. I've never found it too useful myself in V, but would consider using it at times in VI, based on what I saw.

Vinny is right about Civ games in the regard that new ones have had less systems than the previous ones with expansions. Also all that Alex describes about espionage have been in Civ 2 or 3 but have been removed from the never versions.

I also don't like right-clicking to move.

I always use the keyboard shortcut (m) and then left click.

I'm pretty sure I could watch someone play Civ games all day.

@guardingguards: Actually, not the case! The only ice you can't traverse in VI is the solid glacier. Any area that has scattered ice is navigable by boats.

The Scythians were a civilization from the Caucasus. They were known for being a warrior culture, and horses were a big deal to them. Essentially, they succeeded the Aryan civilization (the Aryians were horseback-riding conquerors who annexed ancient India). Scythians are known for their red hair, and they spread around Europe; I've seen an anthropology article on how red-headed Irish people of today are actually descendants of Scythians, not Celts.

Every time I see the new COMBAT symbol I read it as the Steam logo. Branding!!
