-TerraTech (open world)

-Starmade (spaceships, Minecrafty)

-Space Engineers (spaceships, Minecrafty)

-Blockade Runner (spaceships, Minecrafty)

-From The Depths (mostly naval ships, RTSy campaign)

-Robocraft (F2P competitive multiplayer)

-Avarice (space shootery)

None of these are considered finished, mind you.

There are also some games where you effectively only build in 2D because you cannot place devices on top of each other:

-Stratosphere: Conquest of the Skies (flying magical fortresses)

-CubeGun (Just arbitrary flying blocks?)

Stratosphere is the only finished release among these, came out some time in the nineties. I loved it despite never really getting anywhere in the proper campaign.

I understand that pointing that out can be seen as pretty dickish, but it is kind of annoying to have to watch Dan force wrestling down the throats of all premium members in every single piece of content. Dan is a hella nice dude, but I don't find him that funny and him taking center stage in most of the content lately makes me kinda bored. I love the dude but I have no love for the WWE so I relate with about 0% of his material, and even if I did, making references to something isn't funny.

I loved WCW vs. NWO: Revenge. Dan is right on, that music from Virtual Wrestling Pro 2 is the exact same. I was thinking that right as he said it.

This site is about these guys being who they are. That's 100% why I'm here and will continue to give them money for it until they stop doing all of this. 'Force wrestling down the throats of all premium members in every single piece of content' is hyperbolic and untrue. The references are usually to the bemusement of Jeff or Danny and considering the origin for this show was basically "the guys hang out", that seems pretty appropriate. Just because it's something you can't personally relate to isn't good enough reason for him to stop doing it. Just because pro wrestling isn't as widely accepted as say, schlocky horror films, doesn't mean it shouldn't have a place here. I have next to no reference points for 80s Hip-Hop but I sure don't want Jeff to curtail himself bringing it up on the Bombcast just because I can't relate. To do so would be antithetical to the heart of the site.

I don't think my statement on Dan bringing up wrestling in every piece of content is that hyperbolic; Wrestling, Metal Gear Solid, and action movies kinda seems to be about 99% of what Dan knows. I agree with you 100% about Giant Bomb being about dudes being who they are, which is why I feel shitty about not enjoying Dan talking about what he likes, but you saying that his wresting references are for the bemusement of other duders is where I think you're wrong. Even Jeff seems to be tired of them when Dan brings it up most of the time, and none of the other duders have nearly the appreciation for it. I'm in a weird spot, because I'd never ask Dan to change, but that means I'm probably not going to enjoy a lot of the content he's involved in.

I expect Dan to totally miss the Rush lyrics, but everyone? Bunch of barbarians.

I have to admit I was a little bummed that Dan had no idea who people like Mitsuharu Misawa, Jumbo Tsuruta and Genichiro Tenryu were. If anyone has a bunch of old All Japan tapes in storage, they should send them over to GB ASAP. Then Dan can start annoying people with constant wrestling references from two different continents.

Pretty sure that's Rickson Gracie, not Royce. Royce didn't fight in Japan during that time; Rickson was a living legend in Japan.

@mr__kamikaze: When I was a kid there was a point where I wanted a Sega Genesis. I already had a SNES and I wasn't pushing for a Genesis, but I did mention wanting one in passing. Around Christmas that year I overheard my mom and dad talking and she told him that she got me a Nintendo. I was wigging out thinking, "I already have a SNES and a gameboy...what is she talking about." I would make sure to bring up my SNES randomly to her a bunch.

Then when I opened the box on Christmas morning and it was a Genesis I suddenly started to realize that to her all vidya was "Nintendo". Fond memories.
