I'm a huge fan of Souls...but that fucking camera. I still get WTF!!! how could that happen!!! After see it numerous times.

@brad fwiw the safeway in the weird strip mall (potrero center) at bryant and 16th in the mission does have self-checkout, so some in the city do. That whole thing is weird though.

I really hope that Jeff continues to play Bloodborne after this UPF. I played Dark Souls several times and for several hours before it finally clicked with me and I found it to be enjoyable. Now it is easily in my top three favorite games of all time.

Also, protip for Bloodborne: if the lock-on camera is giving you trouble, don't lock on! It's pretty easy to figure out where the only giant enemy in the area is in relation to you.

Very well done Jeff. Best I've seen somebody do on their first attempt. I don't remember having any camera issues with that boss though which is super weird.

I was pretty proud of the legit honest try Jeff gave Bloodborne. No snarky comments or anything(Or at least until the camera start being bullshit but then it was totally warranted), just in full on absorbing the information mode. I mean I know he says he does this with every Souls game but it was cool to actually see it this time.

Now when he says he doesn't like the game I can think "yeah that's cool, you gave it a shot at least".

This is why you people who use lock-on camera are maniacs!

Jeff did incredibly well for someone who hasn't played much of these games though.

Jeff has no idea how much better he did in Bloodborne than the vast majority of players... probably mostly because we were all too cautious, and this game was designed for the player to be more aggressive. Totally Brett.

Sad none of the guys know the power of the Threaded Cane and being able to attack everyone through walls and fences. I killed the Father by chipping at him through the gravestones with the whip mode.

Love that Jeff is good at games he doesn't like. Goddamn reputation to uphold.

Really impressed by Jeff. A new player making it to the first boss while only dying once on an enemy that was designed to be too hard to be fighting at that point in the game. Killing those damn wolves like it wasn't even a thing. And his criticism of the camera is fully warranted. The camera during Cleric Beast fight is one of the worst I've seen in a long long time. And if you auto lock on in these games it greatly exacerbates the camera issues.

I would fucking pay money (which I already do through my subscription) to see Jeff play through Bloodborne.

@jeff is goddamn amazing for someone who barely played Souls game. Also it shows how much he's willing to go for the duders. From eating habanero to trying out Bloodborne.

Dan, thank Buddha you don't have kidney stones. It's the worst pain (when your kidney swells up) I've ever experienced in my entire life. I was in such excruciating pain I vomited and begged doctors to give me pain medication. That, and you have to drown yourself in water all day until you piss it out. I'm almost positive I have another stuck in my ureter so I can't for it to rear its head at the most inopportune time.

Did nobody during testing ever say: "You know what guys, the camera during this boss fight, that we showed a lot during previews, it kinda fuckin' trash"? I figured they'd have learned their lesson after the Capra Demon.

@devitiffany: Threaded Cane for life! Haven't felt the slightest need to bother with any other weapon.

Don't forget drinking Taaka gin.

@doctordonkey: Maybe im giving Miyazaki too much credit, but its almost like they are kind of telling you not to rely solely on lock on, and learn how to fight without it.

I've found several bosses easier without it, especially those where you will likely never use a gun.

@brad@danryckert The torch is pretty useless. You can buy an item from the bath messenger that cost 2000 blood echoes and it basically does what the torch does, but you equip it onto your belt which keeps both your hands free to use weapons. It's called the lantern or something.

I started Bloodborne with the cane and had a hard time with it. After watching Jeff blow through people with the cleaver, I started a new character. I'll pick up the whip later if I feel the need to punish myself further.
