Unprofessional Fridays: 05/17/2013

It is, but every live segment recently just seems like a barrage of random questions while they play games, rather than the crew discussing stuff on their own or focusing on the games they're playing.

Oh good, I'm not colorblind. I owned Time Commando new on the PS1 and played the hell out of it. Even back then I thought the cut scenes were ugly as fuck and the game play was kind of junk, Regardless of that it doesn't look like it ages very well to begin with. But come on! You expect me to see a game called Time Commando and not want to get it? I guess this concept went on to be Darkest Of Days or something. In retrospect it's probably my most regrettable PS1 purchase of all time.

That crazy first person toddler game looks crazy. I think I'm getting a little DOTA 2'd out. Please Brad, curb this habit before it's too late. This week's video was okay but Friday's are becoming a haunting reminder that I no longer have a PC fit for games while the new console launches are quickly approaching. I was bit sceptical when they hired Rorie but I was wrong and think he's doing a bang up job in the live streams.

However Patricks comment on the Steam trading cards and the 'sick' burn on DOTA in Yesterdays quick look has pushed me over the edge and I just can't take anything he says seriously any more. He's such a prat.

I top out at 14kHz. Wow, that was quite a surprise, since I like to think that I have very good hearing. I am always annoyed by things like muffled voices of my neighbors coming through the walls of my apartment and stuff.

Blendoku is an awesome mobile game worth checking out that's based on a similar concept to that colour-blindness test

edit: I dropped off at 16khz. couldn't hear it. might be higher if I checked the actual website.

I can't hear anything past 15 KHz. I can hear 16 if I turn the volume up more, but everything else is nothing. I'm 17. I'm probably fucked.

Going to the website itself, I actually made it to 22hz. It was faint, but I could definitely tell a noise distortion. I was fairly amazed. I'm 25, for reference.

"Ost - ikke frokost" means "Cheese - Not Breakfast" in Norwegian. But writen Norwegian and Danish is pretty simular so it's not strange they got it wrong.

On that hearing test i could only hear the first 3. I heard the tone they played before that though.

I took that test too. You can find it at http://www.color-blindness.com/color-arrangement-test/ . I'm definitely colorblind, but have deuteranopia, rather than protonopia. My severity was higher than either Vinny or Jeff. For me, greens are weaker, not reds, so the green light on a traffic light looks almost white to me. It definitely doesn't look like the red light, though.

Damnit, that mosquito noise seems to prove that i'm going deaf in one ear. I thought this for a while but it seems to be really noticeable now.

I am distressed with the idea that there may be some people who don't appreciate Time Commando.

Those people are horrible.

Kidding aside, it was the first 3D game I saw, and was the main reason I bugged my parents endlessly for a PC. DAT WESTERN LEVEL !

I'm glad he asked Jeff what he thought about all the Dota 2 that's happening. It needed to be said!

Dude, I couldn't hear anything past the first one, though I'm pretty sure I have some kind of higher frequency tinnitus that is drowning the sound out and that's why.

I'm glad that they always seem to choose the most anachronistic and poorly-aged mid 90's games possible on Unprofessional Fridays. While Time Commando is no Bioforge, it still has all of the things that make it ripe for mockery.

Hey guys, did you know Patrick is from Illinois and things from Illinois are awesome? Pretty crazy, right? It's interesting because things are rarely from Illinois so its super interesting when things originate from the state of Illinois. I just wanted to take a second to tell everyone that.

I thought my ears were finally going to give out before I realized what was going on. Fuck, my ears suck.

I could hear the tone, which is surprising considering I'm a 36yo, I've been to loads of metal concerts over the years and I like music in headphones to be fuckin' LOUD.

Well, this is weird. I didn't hear it watching the stream live, but on the recording? It's piercingly loud!

I have similar memories, and I was actually just thinking about the game recently. Glad to see it's popped up here, though I haven't made it to that part yet. Yo, two plus hours is a long internet video. It's crazy that I sometimes can't muster up the motivation to sit down and watch a movie, but a two hour video or three hour Bombcast? Of course I can make the time! Anyway, I digress.

I couldn't hear 14kHz on the recording, but I found the site they used and could hear 14kHz directly from that site. Nothing higher tho. I'm 32.

@scampbell You can use 'Vred' if you want to in Bokmål instead of 'Sint'. Although I wouldn't use it myself in daily conversations.

Norwegian, Danish and Swedish are so similar that no one would care if you said 'Dreng' instead of 'Gutt'. We would understand it perfectly.

Just don't switch up 'Nei' and 'Ja' ;)
