Thank god they started talking about The Windows Network File Shares issue. I've been trying to fix it for months and couldn't figure it out. The last thing I thought Microsoft would have done is disable necessary services by default and disable the Somba Server feature in Windows 10. After reverting these changes, it works perfectly now.

Surprised none of the guys brought up Round One Arcade when the difficulty of accessing Japanese rhythm arcade games was being discussed. They're a Japanese arcade chain that have been breaking into America in recent years, and they always have huge Japanese rhythm game sections from Sound Voltex to Taiko Drum Master to, my personal favorite, Pop'n Music. I've even heard that a few have that Rhythm Heaven arcade game they were talking about, although it's not at the one I frequent.

Still having a delay issue with the premium content - is this a youtube issue?

The spoiler from the Solo movie almost made me walk out. It's not good in a bad way. It's fucking miserable garbage.
Also, I don't understand how people who aren't into Star Wars could enjoy Rogue One. Or how anyone could enjoy it, period.

@hollitz: It's crazy how Star Wars has gone downhill - I'm done seeing them in the theatre. Should be great with the action scenes at least!

@hollitz: I haven't seen the movie, but I've seen the spoiler and as a big fan of the animated stuff it made me way more hype for the movie. Is it bad because it's so random and makes no sense? Because for someone who's seen all the animated stuff that isn't the case.

Man. First Abby, now Jan. I am loving the character and skill those two have brought to the production side of both East and West GB.

Now I just need to see Jan find his grove with whatever his gaming nitch is/will end up being and give us a series with him as lead in the same way we got to see a lot of Abby's personality and love of games shine through in the 13 deadly Sims.

Maybe Jan conquers Spelunky 2 when it comes out? Dunno.

1803 is a really bad update, it ruined my computer's sound jack, so that no matter what settings I use, it doesn't recognize headphones, but will still play through them. Thus I get sound from both speakers and headphones...

@humanity:Honestly. The movie wasn't bad. But the CGI Peter Cushing just took me out of the film every time he was on screen. That Darth Vader bit at the end was amazing though.

@humanity: The famous line from the RLM review is a sarcastic "I clapped when I saw it", and that's it for me exactly. Rouge One is a collection of references to better movies. It's actual story and characters divorced from those other movies are completely bland and forgettable.

You can solve most of these computer problems by not using proprietary junkware like windows for important things in the first place (i.e. not games.. and even then, run the crapware in a VM or separate machine so its not spying on you if you can)

The superficial convenience of proprietary software isn't worth it when you can't ever rely on them for anything, like this windows file share business, when just an hour of reading will supply you with the knowledge and ability to set up a comparable solution you can actually rely on, and is fundamentally, not superficially, more straightforward. Why waste your money to deal with that substandard bs?

I don't really recognise voice actors very much in things but since binge watching Space Dandy on Netflix I started hearing Ian Sinclair IN LOTS OF DUBBED THINGS. He voiced Gordeau in the Blazblue game they play here and is also the English voice of Whis for reference.

Also people should watch Space Dandy, it's rad.

Samba =/= SMB
Samba is basically the unix/linux/osx implementation of SMB.

Also be very careful about turning on SMB1 as they disabled it specifically due to it having some very serious security issues with malware. SMB2 and SMB3 are enabled by default so you should really switch to using those instead of re-enabling a huge security risk.

The issue isn't with "junkware" as you call it, the issue is that most clients are still using SMB1 despite Microsoft already being two versions ahead with SMB3. SMB1 was deprecated like any open source software might, and nobody updated, so when Microsoft finally had a good reason to disable it outright (serious security issues) they decided to just disable it instead of supporting an old obsolete software which should no longer be used anymore.

Your argument about proprietary software is bunk as if both the client and server are properly maintained then pretty much any system will be foolproof regardless of whether it's open or closed source, the advantage of SMB is that it's built into windows itself and does not require any configuration on the user side. Not everybody wants to spend the time to install some flavor or distro of Linux on their computer, regardless of how easy it is.

If you're writing that from the standpoint of a Mac user and not unix/Linux then I'll just laugh while riding into the sunset at the irony.
