@drewbert Look up Chris Foss if you like that 70-80s style of sci-fi art. He did the artwork for Asimov novels and predominantly does spaceships, and they are awesome.

No, the point of the MGScanlon feature was for Giant Bomb to have several months of easy video content that are different to Let's Plays because they don't call them Let's Plays. Although I wonder whether Drew would actually play much of MGSV on his own time; he used to make it clear that he didn't get much time for videogames in general, at least that was the case several years ago when he was doing his GOTY list. Like a lot of the LPs Giant Bomb does, I'm willing to bet he wouldn't get to play as much of it as he'd like if he didn't do it as site content.

Sadly, "Big Joe" died earlier this year at the age of 80.

This is a pretty ignorant thing to say. I know some people don't enjoy the taste, but that that doesn't mean that no one enjoys the taste. It's almost like taste is a preference.

Sports are funny. I can guarantee you that literally no one I know has ever heard of Dale Earnhardt. Hell, I probably just know him through this website myself.

And I think the tutorial text in that dragon game fucked up because Brad didn't do the thing it was saying (hold the trigger to charge your attack).

While I actually like the majority of the music and didn't care for the dismissal of PAX concerts from pretty much everyone when the question was asked, I have to agree with Jeff on the moniker of "nerdcore" making it impossible for the music to be taken seriously by anyone. There are people who really want it to be recognised as a genre and insist that because someone like Weird Al can get a #1 album that it's a viable genre, and every time I hear people talk about it like that while also constantly referring to it as its own standalone genre, let alone calling it "nerdcore" or "nerd music", my eyes roll so hard I get dizzy.

I'm glad we have another great game this year, MGS V, but also not glad that it will beat out the Witcher 3 for GOTY, because Giant Bomb guys don't stick with RPGs. Both great, but one will get the shaft.

It's funny how Americans think their sports stars are big. Compared to international sports stars they are not very big. Not that Dale Earnhardt or Michael Jordan were small stars but having a hard time thinking of comparably big stars in other sports is a bit funny =) F1 stars and Football (soccer) stars are much bigger. Try Pele on for size =)

They're big here, that's all that matters. We also don't give a fuck about football or F1 (though there are fringe cases like Drew).

Interesting to hear they know who DC Talk was, I didn't know the group was that big.

Ads are the bane of the internet, and extremely irritating.

I wouldn't say that, Chapter 2 of MGS5 is twenty hours of what little plot there is being poorly stitched together in some really unsatisfying ways along with super-hard retreads of old missions. Anyone who has to slog through that might come out the other side a little bit bitter about it :P

Exactly. People be crazy. If an ad comes on your computer/tv, look at your phone for a few seconds, if an ad comes up on your phone, look at the tv. if theres an ad on both at the same time, play with your dick or something i dont know!

In the absence of ads, I don't have to look away from anything I don't want to for any seconds. Fuck your phone.

Also advertisements are openly hostile towards the consumer. Popups, obnoxious flashing banners, etc. Not to mention the sheer repetition when the same few ads are played ad nauseum. Ads are terrible, if I want to find out about something I can do it myself, but most likely, I don't care and they're just wasting my time.

Internet ads are way worse than TV ads, because at least you can DVR and skip those, but never before have I seen a more villainous main character than Don Draper.

I like most craft beer, it tastes good.
