    Me myself im just starting with settler and playing a game on each difficulty until i reach a point where it feals right for me and i can get better.
     
     Suppose the first few games will be a cake walk but it will get me back into it and teach me the basics. What about you guys?

    Prolly start on 2 or 3 and go for silly World Wonder rush builds and settler spam while I get used to the new mechanics.  Then kick it up to 5 and try to take over the world with my iron fist.

    Done my very first game under Chieftan, but the AI did not stood a chance. Killing them with gunships in the 19th century. I am in Prince at the moment and the AI is still not very aggressive, at least over the sea.

    I started at prince. That is the level where you don't cheat and the computer doesn't either. Below Prince you are cheating... Above it is when the cpu starts too. The defualt in multiplayer is price (but don't even go there till they make it not painfully bad). In single it is warlord with is REALLY damn easy. I'd suggest people start with the defualt of warlord .. play around till you work out how to play then start a new game at price. (which i also pretty easy)

    I played my first game on Chieftan, normal speed, as Babylon just to get a feel for the game.  Predictably crushed the AI.  Next game I played on Warlord, epic speed, Gandhi... the AI never attacked me.  I got the Bollywood achievement, but the complete lack of war made that game extremely boring.  I'll be bumping up to Prince for my next game.

    Started as Prince. I'm in 1600, Alexander backstabbed me and took a city, but I've now wiped Greece from the map and I'm feeling a little imperialistic...

    Probably start at Settler and work my way up, for the sake of achievements.  Unless I can get all the difficulty achievements in one go.

    I just finished my first game (~6 hrs, accidentally got a diplomatic victory b/c I built the UN and didn't realize i had bought off all the city-states) on chieftain.  A little too easy, so gonna do prince next.

    My first game on Prince I got taken out by the more powerful Greeks but I knew it was coming.  Playing a new game on Prince and man, the AI is very sharp.  It don't help that I havn't played a proper Civ game in years.

    Started playing on Prince but soon realized that my Civ skills were rusty and got annihilated pretty quickly.  Bumped it down to Warlord so I could actually learn the game, and now I'm so far ahead of the AI that there's no way they can catch up.  Looks like I'll be going back to Prince after all...

    I've been playing the demo on the lowest difficulty, because I want to ramp up as I learn how to actually play the game effectively. When I get it I'll do the same and work my way up.
