Either I'm an idiot and am missing them on some menu or there aren't subtitles in the game.........why not?

Singularity is Raven Software's alternate history shooter, where the player is given the ability of time manipulation.
Really, no subtitles?
Now I feel bad for posting that comment on the quicklook about how it would be nice if they turned on subtitles once in a while.
This got me too. What really gets me is that all the Russians speak to each other in English (except the soldiers), and half of the propaganda is in English too. I'd understand if You and Nolan North were rolling through the island with a Babel Fish type device in your ear, but to be honest, the game would be better in Russian with English subs.
Let's face it at some point somebody at Raven said "You know what, balls to continuity, kids don't wanna read, they wanna shoot".
No subtitles threw me for a loop since I always always turn them on for games. I ended up cranking the volume way higher than it needed to be in order to hear the dialogue since the sound effects and the music were just as loud.
It actually probably ended up improving my playing experience.
i was disappointed at this too. especially since i have hearing problems. and yes the russians accents don't help much
I don't like subtitles, but this is ridiculous. There are plenty of people hard of hearing and they deserve to be able to enjoy the game just the same.
" I don't understand. I thought people didn't like subtitles. I mean, you don't use them in movie do you? "Yes, I do. Whenever a teacher tells me to read for an hour, I 'read' a movie with subtitles....Okay, not really, but it can frustrating watching a film when stuff is going on in the background of the house (someone vacuuming, talking on the phone, using a blender, etc.).
This bummed me out also, mainly due to my Mrs often crashing around making an assload of noise while I'm trying to concentrate. I literally had to shush her for a couple of the more important story parts which, predictibly, did not go down too well. Can't say it really impacted that heavily however, I still love the shit out of this game.
