Looks like Sony decided to slash the price before launch. Pretty good deal for the PS3 version if you also have a Vita as it is a cross-buy title, buying the PS3 version entitles you to a Vita downloadable version of the game.
Some might say it's desperate or a lack of faith in the title but I think it is a smart move. Not every game has to be a $60 disc or a $15 downloadable. I love Sly Cooper and would have been more than happy to pay $60 for a new entry, everyone has those day 1 franchises they pay full, but Sly Cooper isn't a mainstream franchise. The game looks great, previews have been positive, Sanzaru Games has seems to have treated the franchise with respect and the demo was fun in my opinion but Sony is being realistic. This isn't going to break the sales charts but at this price point someone with fond memories of Sly or someone who has been interested in the series and sees this new at $40 will have an easy time swallowing the purchase. Sony is banking on enough of those type of people to walk away profitable and I think it will work.
What do you guys think? Good or bad sign? Are you more or less interested? Indifferent?
