    Overview

    Sonic Origins was revealed as part of the 30th anniversary celebration on the Sonic Central livestream airing on May 27, 2021. No specific platforms were announced at the time. Although footage showed what appeared to be widescreen versions of most of the games (likely the Taxman remakes), those showing Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles were the original 4:3 format. Katie, the Sonic the Hedgehog social media manager, confirmed later that those games would also be widescreen.

    Games included in the collection are:

    Sonic Origins Plus

    An enhanced physical edition was announced to be released one year after the original Sonic Origins. This version makes Knuckles and Tails playable in all 5 original titles and adds Amy Rose as a playable character in all of these as well. It also adds the entire Game Gear Sonic catalog to the collection:

    This additional content is available for extant Sonic Origins owners as a DLC upgrade.
