This robot monkey enemy of Sonic the Hedgehog actually first appeared in the Emerald Hill Zone stage 2 of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 throwing coconuts. Since then he's appeared in other games, cartoons, and comics.

Coconuts is a member of the Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad supposedly, but of Scratch and Grounder he is never seen with them all that often. It's probably because he was made to be the janitor for Dr. Robotnik and he is usually seen cleaning Dr. Robotnik's lab and mopping up the dungeon. He is the lowest rank of the SSSSS Squad and he was demoted to monkey third class where he was assigned to clean Dr. Robotnik's sewer which according to what he said was all plugged with crud and sludge. Cocnuts was once promoted to head of the SSSSS Squad after he made a formula that give Dr. Robotnik super powers, but was stripped of it once it wore off and after that he wasn't seen all that much, probably still cleaning up Dr. Robotnik's toilets.
