Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (XBLA) Review
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is know to be one of the greatest Sega classics of all time. It is also known to be the pinnacle of the Sonic series. If all has to come down to it, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is definitely the best in the entire series and for only 400 Microsoft Points, you definitely get what you bargain for!
Pretty much if you haven't played Sonic the Hedgehog (really, you must be a fool not to have) it's a 2D platformer video game, similar to that of Mario or Donkey Kong except you play as a Hedgehog who can speed through an entire level really fast and collect a lot of rings. You can gain extra lives if you collect a lot of rings or finish the level in the fastest time possible. If you get over 50 rings, you can go ahead and use them on checkpoints for special stages, which start off easy then get a lot more challenging and you get chaos emeralds through these stages. You also can save your game like other Sega XBLA arcade titles so that if you're stuck on a little frustrating part, you can go back and try again. I know I haven't explained entirely the story and the main thing about Sonic but I will leave that to you to find out.
The graphics look pretty much the same and the sound does too. Seeing on how games can be poorly emulated sometimes, this is a good thing.
So a question would be, "If I already have this game, what's this $5 XBLA version worth re-buying?" and here's a simple answer, you really don't have to re-buy it but if you want to own a classic XBLA title, build some achievement points, and play the online versus modes with a friend (and get the achievements off that too). Other than that, if you don't want to buy this, then you don't have to. All I'm saying is that it wouldn't hurt at all for a price of 400 Points.
