It was buggy at release, but now it can finally be enjoyed.

Spyro: enter the dragonfly was the fourth game in the popular Spyro the dragon franchise, but it received poor critical acclaim due mostly to the fact that it was largely unfinished. The only way it could be called complete was calling it a complete mess. But over the years, they made newer copies and fixed up the game. So if you got a copy from day 1, its unplayable. But if you got a copy made a year later, it'll be almost completely fixed. Anyway, in the game you play as Spyro the dragon, who is now relaxing after the events of Spyro 3. There is a celebration involving Dragonflies, whom every dragon has. However, in the middle of it Ripto (the villain from Spyro 2) comes in and tries to capture the flies with a spell, but instead scatters them throughout the dragon realms. Spyro and his dragonfly, Sparx are then tasked with finding and returning all of the dragonflies. The gameplay is almost identical to other Spyro games. Spyro can perform all of his actions like gliding, charging, and breathing fire. Spyro must travel to various different levels where he must fight enemies, do tasks for other people and explore to find the dragonflies. Once you have a certain amount of them, you can enter a new stage, where you can find more dragonflies, and so on until you've found enough and can face Ripto. One new edition is Spyro's new breaths. He has traditional fire breath, but can also unlock, electrical, ice, and, get this...bubble breath. You have to use these for various puzzles and sometimes you'll have to come back to a stage later when you have different breaths to complete some tasks. Most of the characters from other Spyro games are back to help Spyro, but the character "moneybags" is very underused. In other Spyro games, he would make some weird obstacle and you had to pay him to get past, but here he only does it one time. Its kinda sad. Anyways, the graphics are great in this game and the framerate is mostly consistent. The load times can be pretty long, so watch out. So the graphics are good, But the animation, sadly, is not. Characters will constantly jerk around and do unrealistic actions and their eye sockets even move. I know they're supposed to look cartoonish, but really, that's far enough. The sound is what you expect, it sound pretty decent. However, a lot of the time effects sound closer to you then they actually are, which seems unfinished. The voice acting is pretty lame too. Kids won't care, but I just roll my eyes at it. Anther slightly strange thing is the collision detections. Sometimes vases will break a few seconds late when you destroy them and enemies will be defeated even if you miss them. Its not frequent, but still a bit strange. Also, the ending was a HUGE letdown! It's really the most unfinished part of the game. It's like they had to work on it for just 10 more minutes, but they just said "whatever" and tossed into the delivery truck. So in conclusion, Spyro: enter the dragonfly is really just another Spyro game. Its nothing different. That said, its still satisfying to play if you look past the few unholy bugs and unfinished aspects remaining. It's really only worth getting if you played all the other Spyro games to death and want to see what you missed. If you're still late jumping into the Spyro universe, I still recommend any other Spyro instead. This is still the weakest Spyro game, but its still worthwhile if you havn't checked it out yet.
