Buggy but good
The combat has lots of really strong idea. Sure it is mostly derivative, but it is solid. The same can be said for the platforming, enemy design, level design, etc. However I would say that none of those things is truly optimized. Combat is good but finicky. Platforming is good but doesn't feel quite right. Etc, etc, etc...
The game is also very buggy. I only had one or two crashes, but more frequently I would enter zones too early, and the game would freeze for 5-10 seconds in order to load all of the assets. At other times assets would pop-in quite jarringly, including many enemies at once!
All in all, a good game, but not finished. I have very high hopes for their follow up to this!
