First Campaign-Inspired StarCraft II Custom Map Launches
Announced via the official StarCraft II blog, "Burning Tide" is described as a 3v3 map that has one goal: "greed." Like in the campaign mission that it's inspired by, you'll be competing against lava and your foes in an attempt to gather as many resources as possible, while at the same time attempting to keep your own spending down.
The map is available for download right now in the game's custom client. I'll warn you before you download that a few users are complaining about unbalanced play, while even more are complaining about a serious lack of vespene gas (though, to be fair, we always require more vespene gas). I don't know of a single SCII thread on the Internet that doesn't somehow involve these two complaints, so you may as well give this free map a spin if you'd like.
Hey, why are you reading news stories when you could be watching the Big Live Live Show: Live? Go watch it now! Right now!

I found it funny that after all the "terran is OP" comments they release a map that's..to be fair pretty favourable to teran what with my base being able to fly about.
But I've not played it yet perhaps the minerals are all on high ground.
Neat idea, but I found that level really stressful so it's hard to see myself playing a game on this map. Hopefully there'll be some interesting matches on it uploaded to youtube though, I'd like that.
I should probably finish the damn campaign first before jumping in to custom nonsense. Though good to see the community pumping maps that I can rock into at my convenience! I can't quit you SC2!
Your starting base only has one gas geyser, and the map obviously encourages air. Terrans have a huge advantage because of the flying buildings, vikings which cost less gas than any other air unit, and marines which are amazing anti-air units that cost no gas at all, as opposed to the other two races where ALL the mobile aa units cost gas. (Except the zerg queen, which you can't really use as attacking units in this map because you can't spread creep with all the lava.)
As if just playing this map once wasn't stressful enough, now I can play it against opponents that aren't AI on Easy?
I don't like this.
