I thought it'd be a good idea to restart the SC2 tournaments. Things have kinda died down lately and the SC2 forums haven't been very active in the past few months. I'm hoping to start them again and hopefully we'll have a decent group of people joining in.

I'm also hoping we can use this thread for general questions or ideas about the tournament. I'd be much obliged if a moderator would sticky this thread.

I'm currently thinking of hosting a tournament in February. It could be a US or EU tournament or both, depending on the interest from each server.

What I currently want to know from you is:

1. Are you interested in new community tournaments? Please post here if so, I can't gauge the interest if you don't post.

2. What server(s) are you able/willing to join for tournaments. I can host tournaments on the EU and US servers.

3. What's your ladder rank/skill level?

@Thule: Tournaments would be fine but I'd really be interested in other events, like community FFAs, custom games, team games (4v4s, 3v3s, so on).

Rank: I haven't played ladder in a long time, used to be gold/plat. Now probably silver.

I understand that. However, personally, my main interest is running a competition and competing myself.

Organizing a team game, custom game or FFA isn't really my thing, that's more up to you as a player. Contact other active Giant Bomb players and ask them whether they'd be interested in playing.

I'll see what I can do on that front, but I'm not gonna promise anything.

And yeah, customs, team games and stuff like that would be great to throw in between or something like that. Perhaps not necessarily as organised as the tournaments.

@Thule: kk, sorry for posting it in this thread, thought that classified as an "event". I thought that it would be a good idea to get something like that going every week or so. Tournaments can be difficult to organize and require a lot of time from each person. A weekly "get together, play some pre-agreed game type" would be a more free, open option.

But I digress, I'm cluttering the thread up with OT material.

EDIT: Still, consider me interested in the tournaments. wouldn't be able to play regularly, but I'd be interested when available.

Keep in mind, everyone, that there has been a pretty good demand on SC2 tourneys in my Gaming Hub thread, so Thule and I are working together on reviving the action and getting the community organized.

No need to apologize. It's a good idea, and it's what this thread is for, it's just not something that I think requires me to organize. Organizing it requires only one person to set a date, time and game-type and people could participate simply by showing up.

Cheers for starting a thread like this - I do miss these forums. I'd love to play in some community tournaments, I'm in EU but havent laddered in1v1 for ages (I always got bad ladder anxiety), so I'm probably not diamond level anymore.

I've wanted to jump back in and play some more, this would give me a good reason to.

NA/platinum. I'm not platinum, though, I just got really bad people for my placement matches. The last guy SCV rushed me like 13 minutes into a game. I had an expansion up and everything. It was cute. I would probably put myself at low/mid gold.

My main problem is picking a race to play. I played terran for the majority of my SC2 time but I've had stints with zerg and protoss. The obvious answer is random but I want to stick with 1 race and learn it well. I'm thinking protoss. I dunno...

@Bwast: This is exactly what I do. My main is Protoss but I keep trying out the other races for like 10 games or so at a time on the ladder, so I never make that much progress. I keep questioning whether I should play Protoss or Terran and can never decide.

I haven't played since september and was silver back then >.>. I won't have time to practice either, still I am good for some games. Especially if it ends up with dumb customs for 2 more hours afterwards like in the past. :P

1) I would really like some more GB tournaments, but saturdays were normally bad for me. So basicly i am interested, i just cannot commit at this moment. :)

2) I only have a EU account, so EU for now.

yeah if its anything like the last tounrys Thule set up it will have a loosers bracket for everyone sub diamond :P (me included if I rememeber to not just go offline after my game lol)
