I for one know the game is most likely going to be worth it, but the main thing I'm worried about is if this is the doing of Activision...
If there was a write-up when the pricing announcement came out, or if there's a thread like this already made, please, put'er down in the comments section below.
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Game » consists of 10 releases. Released Jul 27, 2010
The first chapter in the StarCraft II trilogy focuses on the struggles of the Terran race, as seen through the eyes of Commander Jim Raynor, leader of the rebel group Raynor's Raiders.
Why is Wings of Liberty 60$?

" I think the simplest answer is...because they can charge whatever they want, and people will buy it. "Wooo havnt seen you on the forums for a wile!
" I think the simplest answer is...because they can charge whatever they want, and people will buy it. "Exactly what I was going to say. I'm sure there would be quite a number of people who would be willing to fork out twice that amount.
Yeah also look at how much people will buy the CE, it costs 84 euros in my country, and yes i will get the CE but Blizzard is known for quality games with lots of polish.
Day one buy for me
I think it's more Activision and Ubisoft trying to change the way the PC market is. They're trying to make the PC exactly like a console. For example of course the pricing, then you have dedicated servers taken out of MW2, the pay to play online model, and Activision suggesting HP and Dell should make a TV based computer.
Yes I was wondering why it cost 60$ also.
-If only it was on steam then I would definitely but it when it was on sale. (If only)
" @ISuperGamerI said:Good point I forgot about Activision Blizzard." Because it's an Activision game and some PC games cost that much? "Fix'd "
Warcraft III was the same price...." @ISuperGamerI said:

" Idk what you're talkin about, my copy is $100. "Technically $300 if we keep being idiots and keep forking it for the CEs. >.>
" Because Bobby Kotick "Again, all Blizzard games have been like this for ages. Also it's an investment. You aren't just paying for the game, you're paying for the promise of full DLC at no cost, mod support, a "decent" story (it's a really bad plot...saw it on YouTube >.>), and whatnot.
The $60 you are paying is a promise of more things to come. Hell, some people even forked over the full $100 for WC3+Exp just for DotA, that's the kind of promises that Blizzard will keep.
" Because they want you to spend 180$ on the game in the course of 3 years. "Wrong! $60, and then $40 each for the expansions. Blizzard expansions have NEVER been full price and have always been 40 bucks cheaper. So in the long run if you just get the normal versions it'll cost you $140 over the course of SIX years.
If you get all CE's then you're pretty much paying $300 flat. >.>
" @KaosAngel: if Activision has anything to say about it it will be $180 over 3 years "Blizzard wouldn't do that. Unlike you, I believe Blizzard runs Blizzard and not Activision.
Valve and Blizzard are the only hopes left for PC gaming, and Blizzard knows it. They won't fuck up.
Activision did it with MW2 and it worked.... so why not do it again?

" @ectoplasma said:Except... they're not really expansions. They're full games that don't require the previous one. They said multiplayer will be in every single one regardless if you have the others. Plus they each have equally long campaigns so I don't see how they'd ever be considered expansions." Everyone is quick to jump on Activision for this, but please people, do some research first.
Both Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 launched at $60 all those years ago. This is nothing new for Blizzard, they just haven't released a game in so long that people have forgotten.
Activision has NO control over Blizzard, it's all done by that parent company that owns them both. It was part of the contract, Activision has ZERO rights inside Blizzard, and something like IW would never happen." @KaosAngel: Blizzard will be the next infinity ward. Activision is ultimately in charge of blizzard and they will get their way. "
I'd say that the most likely reason is that it's being published by Activision. there's also the staggering amount of money the game cost Blizzard to make.
...What DLC.
And mods and maps can and more than likely will be sold on there new battle.net
Speaking of the new battle.net very much like IW.net, they have all the control, they have it region locked and they plan to charge for user made mods and maps.
Sure sounds like someones been influencing there choices.

Sure you can't do custom leagues like iccup anymore, but you got full standardized leagues now for everyone. No one is going to charge for their maps, no one will charge for DotA, no one will charge for Nexus Wars. I can make a BigGameHunters clone and not charge for it.
It's region locked for lag, man. If you were in the beta, you'd know how insanely bad the pings could get. The regions WILL open up after a month or two.

No, but Activision-Blizzard has control over Blizzard(as well as over Activision) and its President and CEO is, yes, Robert Kotick." @Zidd said:

" So what's it like living in a gingerbread house where you vomit rainbows? "Oh come on, Blizzard is untouch-able. They have full control....but alas, you can clearly see Activision taking over.
-$60 price tag, oh woe is me...it's the first time a Blizzard game is 60 bucks (no it's not).
-Locked Battle.net 2.0, oh woe is me...it clearly has nothing to do with the shitstorm that happened in South Korea about royalty fees with airing SC matches on TV.
-No Custom Leagues, oh woe is....no wait, this I agree with them screwing up. I'm praying that iccup is allowed their own custom League or it will be a cluster fuck to make a professional league system for everyone.
Clearly Activision is to blame for the major faults of SC2. Region locking? Surely the shitty netcode in the beta wouldn't have anything to do with that.
Only Activsion would gladly make hands down the best toolkit to the community to make some of the most amazing UMS, I see Activision all over the Galaxy Editor that comes free with every copy of Starcraft II, and free to all Beta users who can STILL use it until launch day.
I really don't see how Activision is controlling Blizzard. All these changes are due to fixing mistakes from SC and making sure Blizzard has control over the Leagues, cause you know...it's kinda hilarious that you can play the most epic championships in Korea and not have to give Blizzard a dime.
Battle.net 2.0 stops that and will force all the tv companies to pay their royalties due to the users having to be on Blizzard's server.
You seemed to miss the part where they stated it will launch that way. And stay that way." @Fallen189 said:

Well Activision/Blizzard are going to take cuts from anything that they sell on Bnet that are other people's works.Only Activsion would gladly make hands down the best toolkit to the community to make some of the most amazing UMS, I see Activision all over the Galaxy Editor that comes free with every copy of Starcraft II, and free to all Beta users who can STILL use it until launch day.
" @KaosAngel said:No, it's already been stated on TL and a few other sites they will open it up. Even the Blue posts in the beta forum confirmed it. They wouldn't say when, but it's going to happen. If they don't the entire League system will be screwed, and the custom Leagues would just force players to go back to SC." @Fallen189 said:You seemed to miss the part where they stated it will launch that way.
