There are times...
You realized you missed a game so much, like a child without his safety blanket.
And one day, you found it from a dusty closet, hold it up like some ancient treasures: all those shouting, sleepless night memories fell right back into place. Yes, it's a competitive game, but nothing from this game gives you a head rush, not at all, it has a sesne of familiarity, it grows on you.
Starcraft is such a game, to me, and to many others.
No company did their games quite like Blizzard, who endorse the word "balance" probably more than everybody else. Today's RTS are fun, with races and units blossoms like a summer garden, but somehow you are not enjoy them quite as much, because your friends are "cheating".
Gamers love to exploit weakness in game mechanics, and most RTS fail to deliver "race balance" on initial release. Nor did Blizzard.
But there is something C&C: Red Alert can't compare to Starcraft: the latter is constantly envolving, put in a simple way, Today's Starcraft is not the same game from 1998, it has been patched to perfection, and ultimately, a masterpiece in player vs player field.
It's no wonder that Starcraft has been used as a yardstick for RTS, as it has been tested in thousands of professional gaming event, and held-up extremely well.
