With the steam sale in mind I found myself with a craving for a (naval) empire/trading game. Which is the best one? The " East India Company" pack isn't too expensive but the reviews are very average with complaints of lack of depth. I played Pirates! on the C64 but never the remake. Worth getting? " Port Royale 2" is so cheap I'll probably just throw it in there if I'm getting something else. What candidates are there?
 
Edit: " Europa Universalis" looks promising.

Sid Meier's Pirates is an excellent game.
