    Just got SFIV last week (haven't played since SFII) and discovered that EVERYBODY is inifinitely better than me.  Whee!  But, at last, victory is mine!  Surely due to much wild wagging of my fight stick, but I'll take it. 
     
    My main problem is I think waaaay too much, so by the time I'm ready to do something, I've eaten about 15 combos. :)  Practice, practice, practice.  I know.

    Thanks!  Of course I got it the same day as the played 100 online matches achievement... doh. 
     
    I've been playing as Ryu so far (since I knew him from SFII), but I'm considering making Rufus my main.   Am I insane?

    block high, block low, bait those wake up shoryukens by standing right next to them, block then punish. Rinse repeat. That's for the majority of the shoto-scrubs. You'll get  a ton more wins just by following that. Good luck!

    Ah yes, I remember my first ranked victory in SFIV.  I was sliding with M. Bison.  Totally did not feel like a dick at all afterward.

    1 low short into EX legs, 2 low shorts into EX legs, 3 low shorts into EX legs, and combo that innnnnto ullllttrraaaa (only in a corner).

    Rufus is great, but complicated.    And the advice above is very sound!  block SRKs, punish with a big combo.  Its a shame because I always want to over think it, but if they're gonna keep wakeup dragon punching, you've gotta keep blocking and punishing.

    That's just about how I got all my initial victories.  That and EX Hooligan when they throw a fireball.  Rarely does anyone react in time.

    Are you bein serious?  If so, EX legs is the EX version of lightning legs for chun li, EX bird would be spinning bird kick. 
     
    Also ultima, i wanna see this 1 cr short into EX legs, thats some mad button pressing if you can get that shit to connect.  Im guessing you can do it via piano-ing all three kicks then pressing them all at once?  Im curious because I know this is one of her main damage combos so it would be nice to know how this would be possible.

    I've switched to Rufus as my main, and having a lot more success now... phew.  Seems like nobody plays Rufus in G3, so I get a bit of a leg up.  (Everybody is Sagat or Akuma these days, it seems). 
     
    Plus, crouching light punch on Rufus is working wonders for me. :)  Still... lots of practice to do...

    You should play player matches, people usually just play for fun and most people don't had ridiculous Street Fighter skills so you can get used to the game that way

    www.eventhubs.com is a pretty good place to get started if you're trying to pick up a new character. The guides there are pretty helpful.

    If they don't kick your ass out of the lobby before the game even starts, anyway. In my experience, even having one of those chick icons will get ya booted....and for whatever reason Capcom won't let you default your icon/banner....wtf?
