Super Scribblenauts Review
The Scribblenauts franchise is back again, once again on the DS, and this time around allowing you to not only harness a ton of nouns to help you solve puzzles, but utilize adjectives as well, to enhance your experience. Once again there isn't a continuous story to speak of but there are plenty of levels that will have you gaming for quite some time to come.
Graphically you're going to see the same mute color palette and slightly cartoony 2D graphics that you saw in the first game. There's going to be a bit more variety to the game because of what you can do with the power of adjectives, but overall this is basically the same looking game.
The sounds in this game are really minimal, but then again all you need to know is when you've succeeded, which the game gets that point across, so its not something that will stop you from liking this game.
The controls are the reason why this game feels so much better. You know have your choice of choosing between, in my opinion a very broken control scheme in which you utilize the touch screen and stylus to move around, or you can use the D-pad to control your character and move with a lot more fluidness.
Now as I said there isn't a real story to this game, but once again your imagination will almost be the limit when you're trying to solve puzzles. You'll see that there is a wide range of puzzles each with varying difficulties to keep your mind engaged. There are also going to be levels exclusively to see how you can utilize adjectives to effect the game, some of these levels are a little too much, but overall it definitely gets you into the mood of utilizing adjectives outside of those levels. There are still a couple of very vague levels that you'll have to fight through but overall this is a solid game. I do like the fact that instead of a line of levels that you have to complete you're basically trying to complete constellations in the sky to mark your progress.
This is definitely a fun game to have, and because its broken up into distinct levels its easy to pick up get a level or two done and then be able to go about your day. If you carry a DS with you to work or throughout the day, you're going to want to make sure that you have this game with you. This game gets an 8.8 out of 10.
