The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
Has anybody tried being a Werewolf?
Yes...It's ok you aren't that much more powerful and you are pretty much defenseless but it is useful because you can't get any diseases!
Yeah, it's pretty cool. I'm only level 11 so it's really good for a low level guy. I don't know how I'll feel about it once I get some really good loot though.
You can roar and get people to stop attacking and flee in fear. It turns mobs into a joke as you pick them off.
Also your power attack has super strength and it will send people flying a pretty long ways. Then you just slash until they're dead. It's actually pretty broken.
You have to feed on people to get your health back, but that's the only way you can heal. Also I think you sprint faster as a wolf than you do riding a horse.
I'm pretty sure I'll keep it, 100% resist disease is worth it, and that wolf mode I'm sure will continue to be pretty good in a pinch. It's better than the Bloodmoon werewolves in Morrowind.
Its alright.
If you can murder some npc's you can stay alive, but versus any strong enemy the lack of healing will get you killed.

No it's a power, like a racial power. Once a day you can turn into the Beast for 180 seconds. Any person you feed on fills your bloodlust and you add 30 seconds to the timer.
Other than that though, you sprint crazy fast and can maul dude's faces off. The roar move fears everyone, though its a little annoying since they run away as fast as you can chase them without sprinting, and with no lockon I found myself missing attacks a lot.
Regardless though, unless you plan to become a vampire, become a werewolf, its an active daily ability, so you can never use it again if you want, but still enjoy the 100% disease resistance. The only real downside is you can no longer get resting bonuses.
I never transformed after the first few "OH MAN BEING A WEREWOLF IS FUCKING AWESOME" times. Now I wish I could get rid of it because it doesn't feel right.

No, you can turn into one once a day.
I like it. Great for killing stuff that is too strong for my character.
I like it! I use it more as a way of getting placers faster, because you can run really really fast.
Being a werewolf is extremely overpowered when fighting against humans/elfs/etc. Your special ability makes everyone flee in terror, no matter how strong they are, and this makes it easy to pick them off one at a time. Your strong attack also sends people flying so you can beat them up while they are on the floor. I was wandering randomly as a werewolf and encountered some redoubt, and murdered everyone in it.
Granted, fighting a dragon as a werewolf may not be a good idea, but mobs of npc's become a piece of cake.

It's really strong earlier in the game and since you can eat people, and only people it seems, it's not very effective against monsters. The fear is incredibly powerful
It's not very good in combat. I'll explain. It doesn't last a long time, so you usually want to use it when you feel that you need it. However, the start up time on transforming is really long and will usually get you killed. Also, you can't use it around people or they'll attack you. If you can turn at the right time, though, you can knock enemies down with a single swing. Still, not entirely useful.
I find it actually pretty good in combat, I tend to one or two shot most of the enemies in beast form. The transformation is long though so you have to use it before the encounter starts. If you get sick of it their is a way to cure it later in the companions quest line.

I would like to object to this statement. I have personally undertaken the endeavor to slay a dragon with my bare claws. It was absurdly successful, once it landed. If you can outlast it's breath of choice and wait for it to land, then you're fine. That said, I was level 31 at that point, and had completed the main quest line. That may have had something to do with it.
@JonSmith:More reason to be a werewolf!
It's time to try this out for myself! Do you know if there's a cool execution for killing a dragon as a werewolf?
I want to, but it just doesn't fit with the character I'm playing. I will most definitely become one on my second play through.
I did, but i decided to get cured because

Hopefully we'll see some sort of a balance in a patch, if not, mods.it's pretty useless.
Wolfing out has helped with every dungeon, dragon and giant. Destroy a group of people with a companion and backtrack for their weapons when it's all clear. I consider it pretty helpful and it doesn't affect the story overall.

Do you know if being a vampire is just as useless? Can you even become one?
You can and It's a LOT more useful, but of course being out in the sunlight is the drawback. Still, if you wanna go vampire or werewolf, I'd go with the vampire. I wonder if you can be both? Anyway, here is some more detailed info.@TheDudeOfGaming said:

When I first turned into one I killed a Whiterun guard, and his body won't disappear so it's kind of annoying. I had to drag him behind a house because it was weird seeing it in the courtyard being ignored by everyone.

if you get it from the person mentioned in that wiki than no, you can't be both.
I'm curious, and PM me if you feel it requires spoilers - I've become a werewolf. If I finish the questline that led to me becoming a werewolf, such that the faction that is secretly werewolves no longer has quests for me, is there any drawback to being cured? Will I still be able to bring the hot werewolf chick around as a follower/get hitched?

I got to the part where you become one but then I actually loaded a previous save, as it just didn't feel right for my character.
Yeah I honestly didnt want this, kind sucks that its forced on you to continue with the quest lines :(. Unless I missed something.

Yeah, I felt the same way. It was worth taking it for the story though. Now that I've finished the questline, I think I'm going to get it cured.
let's be honest. the pro outweight the con, by a lot. even if you dont like transforming its better then being a vampire. also will help out if the room your going into is too strong. (also on a test save i went back to riverwood and killed nearly everyone in the town as one. the fear thing they can do to people is amazing i entered the inn in riverwood upon using that move everyone backed into the same corner. needless to saythey died quickly)
