So as a real gamer, I have both consoles and wanted to get input from people that have seen both or have found anything comparing both versions. The track record suggests the 360 version will be better considering how the last 2 Fallouts came out on the PS3. But Oblivion on the PS3 did look better. My worry is that I love the 360 for fps, the PS3 control sticks suck ass for shooters, and feel that a first person game will just play better on the 360 for me. But I also remember the load times and hear of problems installing the game on the 360. So if the game performs significantly better, unlikely as it may be, I would get it on the PS3. But if not, then 360 it is.

What say you? if you have both consoles, which version will you get?

Note: A disturbing thing about the reviews coming out is no mention of the PS3 version because reviewers were not sent a copy. Not new but still, it would be nice to know.

I don't have either system right now, I'm a fake gamer.

I ordered it on PS3 since I prefer that console. There've been no really legit comparisons I've seen so far, but a short video from a German site comparing the two said that they were pretty much the same except PS3 had less pop-in. I haven't heard anything bad about either version so you're safe with either.

I found this video comparison which is probably the same that @benjaebe was talking about. To my eye it seems that the textures are little better on PS3 version but I'd love to see more point-to-point comparison of the two. There also a small bit comparing 360 with and without the installation and again to my eye it seems to be better with installation.

The only thing I really want to know about is the framerate on ps3.

Anyway using that video as a guide I'd say if you have the choice spring for the PS3 version.

As an even realer gamer I have the option of PS3, 360, or PC. I'll be playing it on the PC but if mine wasn't up to snuff I'd go with the 360 because of the controls and I usually go with that platform for multi-console titles. That is, unless I know the PS3 was the lead platform (as with LA Noire).

I should clarify that I do have a gaming PC, but my brother is already getting it for his PC on our shared Steam account, I want to get a version for one of the consoles.

Get it for whichever of the two systems you prefer to play games on more. If there is any difference in the two i doubt it will be noticeable outside of you seeking out side by side comparisons.

So, I have a PS3, 360, Wii, and a high end PC. That must make me the Gamer ubermensch!

The difference in PC to console is great enough where if you had a PC, I'd do that. If anything, for the much faster load times.

Otherwise, the PS3 and 360 look and play close enough that its just personal preference. Coke vs Pepsi.

I've seen side-by-sides, and it seems that the PS3 version has better textures. I don't know if there's some sort of texture pack for the 360 version or what, but it seemed a little blurry in the comparison.

As for framerate, I have no idea.

I think by real gamer, he meant more that he is a non-casual gamer. I don't think many casual gamers would have both, so his point is valid, you're all just being childish and silly. That's right, down right silly.

I'd get it on the 360 because of the controller and despite me claiming I'm not bothered about achievements, I still feel super satisfied when I earn them.

There's talk about a texture bug on the 360. It should be fixed in the day 1 patch.

Yeah. I would say go for the 360 version. This texture loading bug obviously won't last forever, as I'm sure it will be patched soon enough.

I would go for the 360 version too. I like the controller better. And the texture bug is a known issue, so it will be fixed, if not tomorrow, then in the very near future. Either way: This game will be great! I'm looking so much forward to it!

After playing the last 3 Bethesda games on the PS3 (Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion), I will be getting this for the 360. It'll most likely run smoother i.e. no framerate drops, freezes, screen tearing.

Oblivion on PS3 was okay only because it came out a year later.

Yeah, that German video looks like it's 360 version is running with the texture bug. From what of seen of the two working properly, there really isn't a meaningful difference. Get it for whatever console you prefer.

I have all the consoles, but my Wii and 360 are boxed up in the closet, my PS3 mainly plays Netflix, and I buy most games for the PC. Am I a real gamer. Please tell me that I am, I don't want to be ostracized by strangers on the internet.

It's okay. We all do. Although I must say, I've come to love the delayed 'ding' of a trophy as well.

@TheHBK: so far from the few video's out, the ps3 has a better look and the comparisons have no slowdown between them for fps lags. Up to you on which system but I am most likely getting it for pc as the graphics and the mod community is on that side vs consoles.. if my pc magically dies then it goes to ps3 though.

I ordered it on PS3 because that is what I have been playing more of lately. From what I can tell it doesn't really matter, though. I'm sure it will be a great experience no matter what you play it on.

the textures in the 360 are awful saying that it's a little difference is downplaying it like the idiots at lens of truth always do whenever the ps3 version is better

I got it on PS3. It looks fine. Frame-rate drops quite often, but it's not a huge deal. I maaay go for the PC version eventually, though. It depends on whether I see a significant difference in graphics or mods start making a significant change. For the time being, it seems like a solid multiplatform game, so I'd say controllers, HD size and whatever gamerscore you're building up are the only (very minor) personal considerations here...

sadly my pc isnt powerful to play it so i was looking at this aswell its kind of a odd situation both versions seem to have a good frame rate but the ps3 is better straight off the disk (based off the first video in this thread) but the 360 version looks better with what i suppose would be the day one patch ( in the second video in this thread) so i have around 12 hours to decide ontill i pick up my copy so im gonna look into it some more

@lord_canti: Yeah, same problem. But I prefer the 360 controller and I kinda like achievements. It's just nice to know that you won't get the short end of the stick if you choose the 360 version. It looked pretty good in the second video! I will go with 360 and do some testing tomorrow. Maybe I can find a fence, like the one in the german video and compare them.

I can't decide which version I should get, does one have a better frame rate than the other? That's the biggest issue I'm worried about.

So far, just an hour or two in, the PS3 version seems to have some infrequent framerate and sound stuttering issues. I'm not sure how the 360 version compares.

Looks beautiful and sound gorgeous when it's all working, though!

@FeelTheFunkness: Using past Bethesda games as a reference, the PS3 should experience more framerate issues than the 360. Now I'm only basing this on Fallout and New Vegas because I haven't heard enough about framerate on either system, both of those games had horrible framerate drops, freezes, and screen tearing on the PS3.

I cant wait for my 360 copy to come from amazon. I'm just bummed i'v been reading about this texture issue deal can anyone actually confirm it? I have read a lot of articles that go back and forth, or does the 360 version just suck the most?
