Starter for this blog is,
I feel like the Cities need to be more busy unlike Oblvion where you pretty much could meet everyone in about 5 mintues of exploring it. Also I hope the Cities are bigger.
( Not saying it wasn't Fanstaticly done the first time round.) Just give it that more busy feel you know?
Anymore you guys can think of could be to do with anything.
Also I know there was a wishlist but I can't see that anymore and I'm new to Gaintbomb!

The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
What things should they add to skyrim which Oblivion lacked?

Animation improvement for characters is a MUST, even if textures are 'meh' and lighting is dodgy sometimes, if animations are good enough they can help in suspending disbelief.
Also, some better damage models (sort of indicated by the trailer).
In Oblivion you sort of hacked at them and the only real reaction was when the enemy died and 'ragdolled'.
I'd like some more area-specific damage (i.e. you hack at a guy's leg and he hobbles instead of still sprinting straight at you, or there are blood stains on the enemies showing where you've hit them etc.) as well, although I don't think they'd be able to add so much detail with that since the scope of the game is so huge.
More weapons (types).
More armor.
More voice actors.
More reasons to go out on random quests ( I do not care for a ghost ship or your daughter in a cave, gtfo).
No more random loot or enemy scaling. It made exploring completely pointless in Oblivion, because there was no random artefacts or powerful weapons you could find. Having enemies constantly match your level also killed the feeling of growing more powerful. It was fun in Morrowind, becoming powefuly enough to literally take out gods. In Oblivion, random bandits wore the best armour sets in the game..
They also need to remove the compass. Coupled with the problems from loot scaling, the compass always showed you precisely where you needed to go, to the point where the game may as well have been on rails. Why did they go to the effort of giving NPC's daily schedules, when your objective was always plainly labelled? I would have liked to have seen more investigation quests, especially for the dark brotherhood, where you could have had to actually have to learn the targets habits and where they were likely to hide out, rather than just being told "we bribed the guards, so just kill him in broad daylight".
There were chances to change the landscape in morrowind like houses for certain guilds that could be built, or the minecamp in bloodmoon. Something like that could be cool.
- A relevant and involving story.
- Better combat
- A magic system that is more visually diverse. (fire= orange cloud, ice= blue cloud etc.= boring)
- Better scaling. If you wait too long with completing the main quest it becomes almost unbeatable thanks to the ridiculously powerful creatures.
- Better yet, no scaling at all. My lvl 99 character should not have trouble dealing with Bandits.
- No more ice cream sundae hairstyles.
I was playing Oblivion yesterday and thought it might be cool to add the ability to knock on people's doors if they're home but their door is locked. Then depending on the person or time of day they may or may not answer. It would beat waiting a few hours every time a door is locked.
Some variety in Archery combat. Even being able to slow or hinder enemies by attacking their legs and arms would make it infinitely more interesting than just shooting dudes haphazardly.
I would like to see more customizable armor and weapons. Something like the character creator, but applied to items. It would also be great if you could sell your created items to other players via an online store ala Forza. Of course none of this will ever happen though.
Flight, werewolves, more voice actors...oh to hell with it.
" Add back in all the weapons they took out like spears, crossbows, and throwing weapons. "Wow. I didn't even know that was in the older games. That would be awesome!
I feel some better random encounters could be cool. They had good ones before, but I really feel like Red Dead hit it out of the park (Except they did repeat a lot). I felt a lot of encounters in red dead had a 'story' to them. If we ran into stuff like a bunch of bandits standing over the bodies of merchants or soldiers and we got the feeling a battle just took place. And some whacky stuff like we saw in fallout.
True open world gameplay and story intergration. The problem with Oblivion was the fact that it had an epic story which required your immediate attention, meaning any questing other than the main story was odd. You would be grabbing mudcrab meat when there's a portal to Oblivion next to every major city, spawning demons that are slowly killing off the defences of the city (in theory).
Morrowind worked because it had a very slow storyline, with you often told to get more training before you were allowed to advance, encouraging exploration. Morrowind's main quest came in arcs, with parts of the game going at a slower pace and allowing you to wander off, while other parts tried to get your immediate attention (which in my case worked) making you quickly advance through one arc before slowing back down. Around the end, things ramped up and by that time your character was experienced.
I'm waiting to hear more of this before I'm sold on Skyrim. I'm hoping they intergrate things more and it sounds like they have at least tried to, considering dragon attacks can happen at random (open world progression), but I need to wait to find out how the main story works within the open world system.
Less people talking at you, and more animated believable characters.
Much as I loved Oblivion, so many of the characters, including (especially) the ones who give quests, were just dull, monotone, and completely devoid of any personality. I want to see them try to approach GTA IV, where the central characters are believable and unique, and you as a player actually care who you're helping out.
Don't really know, looks like they have improved the biggest issue I had with it and that was animation and the quality of the landscape at a distance.
Realised just how much I want me some new Elder Scrolls after the trailer hit, sort of sick of Fallout.
I've been playing oblivion quite recently (I got it as part of the steam Christmas sales and hadn't played it before) so I've been thinking about this quite a bit, what comes to mind at the moment is:
- Some way of marking off already explored dungeons on your map
- Generally some way of marking areas on your map
- A minimap instead of the compass thing at the bottom of the screen
- Guards that can't magically see everything you do
- More variety in the dungeons, brown caves get boring after a while
There's other stuff like a better leveling system and more natural looking conversations but from the sounds of it they've adjusted those things already.
More voice actors, more faction missions, bigger and more alive towns, more alive world and a good main story. I didn't even care much for the dungeon crawling in Oblivion but I want more interesting interactions with NPCs and a better world as in guards should not be able to tell what I have done in the past by magic.
Less level scaling
An overall better level up system that doesn't force me to pick major skills that I don't even intend to use because you need to level up so many other skills a that attribute in order to get the 5 stat points.
And after playing a bunch of Mount & Blade I would definitely enjoy mounted combat.
" Some variety in Archery combat. Even being able to slow or hinder enemies by attacking their legs and arms would make it infinitely more interesting than just shooting dudes haphazardly. "yeah that would be cool. do the crippling thing like in fallout. would make it way interesting.
"Cliff racers. Lots and lots of cliff racers. One can never have enough cliff racers! "
It'd be funny if your first encounter with a dragon was scripted, and it was introduced by having the only (also scripted) cliff racer in the game show up in front of you, only for the dragon to suddenly appear out of nowhere and snatch it out of the air, devouring it.
Mmm I kinda like the Elder Scrolls games for all their flaws. Sure, I wanna see a lot of them fixed, but people are making some pretty silly demands of the game.
One thing that's been bothering me since Morrowind were the telepathic guards. I also want t way to initiate dialogue with someone who's attacking me. Like I want to be able to tell a guard "Hey, wait! I have all this money, don't kill me!". Which the last games have tried to do, but the problem being is that once they're set on attacking you, they want you dead. You'd have to like leave the city, and go somewhere else, get accosted by THAT guard, then pay him off. It just comes off as kinda dumb to me.
The ability to change your appearance. Maybe not your facial features and skin color, but certainly your hair-style.
Also more tool tips so that I can jettison the lowest salable items quickly. If WOW has something like this I can't see why Elder Scrolls can't, too.
Two mods I use a lot on the PC version should be integrated. On screen mini-map and on screen clock. They should be toggle-on/off options.
I should be able to move when encumbered just not fast. Kind of like Fallout 3.
I should be able to pick up an object without being called a thief. Also, I should have the option of pleading my case before I get sent to jail. Maybe a dialog mini-game decides my fate.

There's a PC mod for flight and a few for levitation." Yet to really see anyone mention it other than "levitation spell", so I'll add that flying in some fashion would be cool. "
