This is always something I wondered about while playing Morrowind (a looong time ago)and Oblivion. I may be spacing out, or maybe I just didnt read that ONE paragraph of text in one of the hundreds of books in Oblvion, but what happened to these lil guys? I always found it interesting how their armour came up in the game, their old tech did and there were always severl mentions of them. I noticed in the latest "animations" gameplay trailer that there was some dwarven-robot looking tech and wondered if anyone knew if they'd be making an appearance? So, WHERE DA DWARVES AT?

The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
Where the Dwarves at?
@Poppduder: An incident during the war between the dwemer and the proto-dunmer, all wiped out instantly, except one who you meet in Morrowind. Basically a spell backfired.
"A great war erupted between them, eventually leading to the mysterious disappearance of the Dwemer during the Battle of Red Mountain. The difficulty was prompted by the discovery of a mythological artifact known as the Heart of Lorkhan by the Dwemer, deep in the mountains' bowels. The Chief Tonal ArchitectKagrenac, their de facto religious leader, devised a set of tools, Sunder, Keening, and Wraithguard, to manipulate the Heart to instill divinity to his people, but the spell failed and caused all known Dwemer to vanish"
As odd as it sounds, dwarves were elves, with big bushy beards. They were engineers, they made all those yellow robots(well, no really robots) you fight in Morrowind, and their ruins seem to be several hundreds of years more technologically advance than the rest of Tamriel. They went extinct under very mysterious circumstances(well, not entirely).
They were elves that vanished during the Battle of Red Mountain. The last Dwemer (Yagrum Bagarn) was in Morrowind and infected with Corprus disease. He is probably dead by the time of Skyrim.

But if he didnt get killed hes still alive. Corprus is infinite life, but also permanent pain.
Bad things happened in Vvardenfell during Oblivion, one of the random NPC's mentioned that a great gate opened on top of Ald-Ruhn.
We did them like we did the Neandertals. We did them good, and then we spread ourselves over the world. But before we eliminated all the dwarves, we had sweet sex with them, like we did the Neandertals. That explains why Ryan looked a good bit like that dwarf in War in the North...it's those dwarf genes that have been passed down....
Okay, now back to more reading of The Hobbit....I'm learning so much!

As heartbreaking as a fantasy without dwarves might be, that back story is pretty sweet.

Awesome. We must all scour Skyrim for him. Endlessly.

That article's title is blatantly tailored to make people think it's referring to Warwick Davis. God, I hate the sensationalist British tabloids.
@dankempster: don't limit that to british tabloids, look at the title of this article and tell me you don't expect to see mike myers in jail.
