    Overview

The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage is a rhythm game spin-off based off of The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls franchise.

Primary gameplay focuses on tapping, holding, sliding and flicking various types of notes to the beat of a song as they descend from the top of the screen to a 5-note, horizontal panel at the bottom.

The game relies on a card collection mechanic in the form of idols; performers with particular stats and abilities that relate to the rhythm gameplay. Idols are collected, raised and improved through mechanics common to Japanese mobile games. One of the highly promoted features is the "communication" feature; Visual Novel-like sequences which push the main story and the stories of the individual idols forward. Most of these features are made available through spending a variety of currency types earned through gameplay, as login bonuses or through In-App Purchases.

Also largely featured is a room designing mini-game similar to the Animal Crossing franchise, where players can arrange and decorate the contents of the Idol production office with furnishings earned through gameplay or purchased with in-game coins.

In under a week after the release of the iOS version of the game, Starlight Stage was downloaded over 4 million times on Android and iOS combined.
