Gonna have to keep beating Shadow of the Colossus to get my fix
The Last Guardian
Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Dec 06, 2016
The Last Guardian is the long-delayed third game from Sony's Team Ico. Originally revealed in trailer form at E3 2009, the game was met with substantial delays but was reintroduced at E3 2015.
The Last Guardian Hasn't Disappeared, Says Sony
once it actually comes out all the years of waiting will vanish because they aren't the present, and no one will complain once its out. I'm patiently waiting, but I would rather it never come out than force it out and have it be a horrible game.
2 perfect examples Team Fortress 2, and Duke Nukem Forever. Both had many huge fundamental changes over its dev cycle. One benefitted from it, and one suffered. One of those games should have never been released.
Launch title for the PS4! Really, though much like Half-Life 2 Episode 3, I've stopped caring. Don't talk to me about this game until it's done.

Sony won't allow it to not come out.Yeah, this will come out soon.....along with Kingdom Hearts 3, Half-Life 3, and Versus XIII
Out of all listed games, I'd say KH3 is the least likely to come out. At least in the form we expect it to. KH is a Disney property so they actually have the right to take it away from Square Enix and hand it off to one of their own studios. Unless, of course, they have some sort of deal that prevents them from doing so until Square Enix finishes the current series.
And let's not forget Nomura is 41 years old already. If he has any ambition to start his own company, now would be the time to do so. There have been prior cases of entire Square teams just up and leaving (Nautilus, Monolithsoft and Brownie Brown), so I dunno man, 5 years from now the Versus/KH team might just be its own company.
Just some food for thought. In all honesty, I do think we're gonna get a Nomura-directed KH3.
Oh, and let's not forget Beyond Good & Evil 2. I want to believe.
D-dont you GET IT? Tokyo Jungle IS the Last Guardian!! THAT WAS IT ALL ALONGIn the meanwhile please tell Sony they need to translate Tokyo Jungle for us, thanks in advance.
AAAAAAAHAHAHAH
aaah
@Axersia: I think the more likely scenario is Nomura getting shunned from Square Enix if Versus 13 does not meet sales expectations like Sakaguchi was after Final Fantasy Spirits Within. I think Nomura is getting just about everything he wants from Square at the moment. Not to mention the supposed Japanese loyalty when it comes to their careers.
Tokyo Jungle is in fact coming westward, Patrick posted this in the chat earlier today:In the meanwhile please tell Sony they need to translate Tokyo Jungle for us, thanks in advance.

You're right, it's unlikely he would leave since he seems to have everything he could possibly want. Versus XIII is the game he's always wanted to make, and he has unlimited funds to make it. On the other hand, if the project fails, Square Enix might be reluctant to give him that much freedom again and he's back to being just the KH guy/FF character designer. If that were to happen, he might feel like there's no future for him at the company, and I could see him starting his own while taking some people with him. Of course, if he's actually forced to leave like you mentioned, his colleagues might be reluctant to follow him.
As for company loyalty... Supposedly that's a big deal in Japan, but as I mentioned before, Square has lost a lot of people over the years. Usually on good terms, too. Brownie Brown continued to work on the Mana series, and Monolithsoft was contracted to do background graphics on Dirge of Cerberus. Not to mention all those composers that left to go freelance but still continue to work with the company. So I dunno, maybe that's not as important as we've been led to believe.
Waited 10 years for a mediocre Diablo sequel -
I can certainly wait for the Last Guardian! - Ico & Shadow of the Colossus are one of the absolute ground-breaking Sony titles they have both for artistic vision and innovative gameplay - I'm sure its going to be Fantastic! and truly set itself apart from all other games when it does release. GO TEAM ICO!
Kaz Harai got it charge and said "why are we producing this stupid fucking game, make some shooters guys!"
"So you actually care about that? Yeah ... we're still doing that, kind of. But please look at this fourth iteration of that generic shooter!"
Not intending to offend anyone here, I'm just genuinely curious.
Even as fans of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, why has the hype for this game been through the roof for the better part of a decade when they haven't shown one second of gameplay, one substantial hint at a storyline, or even a proper trailer? All anyone has seen for this game has been short clips of a beast running around with a kid. That's been backed up by a bunch of empty promises and delays stemming from poor quality. Most titles would have been canceled at this point. They have been making all of these claims with absolutely nothing to show for it for five years. The main guy responsible for it is only completing it because he is contractually obligated to. Something isn't right with this game. So why are people still so excited for it? Is it ALL based off of nostalgia and love for Ico and Shadow?

They are probably turning it into a shooter...
That's the only way they can even make their money back after all these years...
And even then, they probably won't.
Loved Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, but, what a fucking joke.
skyrim was not a shooter or diablo 3.
its just a myth that only shooters do well.

I can't tell; are both of you being sarcastic or is it just that the second guy didn't get it?
@Arbuthnaut: I think it's mostly nostalgia, but I think some small part is that a lot of people are looking towards Team Ico to give us something fresh and innovative; something that we're not getting from the more mainstream developers. I, for one, really want this game to come out, and be awesome, simply because I want another game I can show to non-gamers that not everything is boring shooter based around killing people. That gaming is actually worth taking note of.
one can only dream this comes out. dying to play something new from Team Ico that doesn't involve investing hours into something i've already done

I'm one of those dudes who don't really care for this game at all. Until it releases, that is.
Yeah I don't really get why there's this hype surrounding this game. There hasn't been any gameplay footage and I'm not all that psyched about a dog bird thing.
@Arbuthnaut: well... you should know that it has been hinted that this is the ending of the saga, because as mysterious as it is, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, are all said to be connected, at least clearly in mythology.. Now, explaining the hype is easier than that.
Fumito Ueda and team ico have shot twice and both games have been absolutely impressive, I would say that Shadow of the colossus is the single most accomplished modern game up to date, even with its huge flaws. And although none of the games have been at all mainstream, it is safe to assume that the love and dedication that they put into the first two games will go into this one.
As for the problems, it is not confirmed what the nature of the conflicts is, no comments have ever been made. Seems that sony was pushing the quicker development (which is only fair tbh) and they didn't want the pressure. But its silly to think that this would make fans of the series any less excited about it.
