A game that should not be missed by anyone

The Orange Box. A game realeased by Valve and one of the best games released on both the ps3 and xbox360.
But whats so special about this game? Lets start from the beginning. The Orange Box is a collection of games. The games it features are the all-brand new Team Fortress 2, Portal, and Half-Life 2 Episode 2.It also includes the already released Half-Life 2 and Episode 1. So lets talk about these 3 games seperately.

Half-Life 2 Episode 2. What Half-Life fans awaited all this time. This title is a worthy successor of the original title. There's not much to be said here. The thing to know is that Episode 2 is much better  than Episode 1, which attracted a lot of critiscism. Well The Orange Box really gives you the chance to play the entire Half-Life 2 saga. HL2 along with both episodes are here to make you see First person shooting at its finest. It should be noted that even though HL2 was realeased back in 2004, the graphics look stuningly amazing on a ps3 that will make you forget this was a 5 year old game. To be honest i could stop here. HL2 with both expansions on the ps3 would have been enough for most people. It would have been enough for me.

Second comes Team Fortress 2. TF2 is the sequel to TF released a while back. TF2 passed through a lot of developing stages and took a lot of time, so before its released it was considered vaporware. For those who dont know TF2 is a team based shooter. Emphasis on the team part. It featues 9 different classes ranging from minigun wieldin, mountain sized Heavy to the double-jumping super runner Scout. in total there are 3 offensive 3 defensive and 3 support classes, all of which are really fun to play as.  TF2 has a cartoony visual design that makes it really shine and differentiate from other online shooters.
And thats its biggest asset and drawback. TF2 as said before is a team based game. It features modes such as Capture the Flag, control points etc. Lets set this straight from here. TF2 is great to play with your friends or people you know. However it can be bad to play online with strangers. And this is because its not Call of Duty where you get in running around on your own scoring kills. Quite the contrary. This can make the game look bad while it isnt actually. Playing a capture the flag match online i saw people from both sides waiting to kill enemy players while not caring for any kind of progress. Its bad to see your teamates taking out everybody in the enemy base then running bad to kill more people. I guess there are some people that really like deathmatch.I dont blame them, i like deathmatch and team deathmatch matches too, just dont bring that style of thinking in TF2 with you. If you are one of them you should probably play some more Call of Duty.

Last one is Portal. Portal is a first person puzzle game. What you essentialy do is use your gun that spawns portals to move from place 1 to place 2. While it sounds simple it takes a lot of time to figure out some puzzles. Portal uses the same graphics engine as the HL2 games. The physics in this game look great which is good because most puzzles are based on physics. To sum up Portal is a great game and one that  can be quite fun if you're good at using your head.

Finally The Orange Box is a great game that on no account should be missed especially now that its price has dropped considerably down

Other reviews for The Orange Box (PlayStation 3)

A very good game but an inferior port 0

The Orange Box was the very first game I got for my ps3, it was also the very first time I played a Half-Life series game, Portal and Team Fortress 2. I had no idea what to expect and was completely amazed and blown away by this great collection. I will review each game separately.Half-Life 2 and Episodes 1 & 2Half-Life 2 completely blew me away. It is very hard to pick up the story at the beginning (I had to do my internet research only to realize that you are not supposed to know whats goi...
