    Overview

The Smurfs is a 1993 platformer featuring the eponymous blue creatures in another adventure. Gargamel has captured Smurfette and a few of the other Smurfs and its up to Inquisitive Smurf to come to their rescue. The game is a standard 2D side-scrolling platformer. Every five levels is a boss fight and a Smurf to rescue; this Smurf then becomes the playable character for the next five levels.

The Smurfs was released on the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Genesis, Master System, Sega CD, Game Gear, PC and, eventually, the Game Boy Advance. It was followed by The Smurfs Travel the World in 1995/6. It is not to be confused with the 1999 PlayStation 3D platformer which was also called The Smurfs.
