Witcher 2 dropped to 39.99 (from 49.99) base price recently, and its also having a 25% off sale on Steam to celebrate the upcoming 2.0 patch (september 29th, so the sale should last until then) which drops it to 29.99 (euros / dollars). If you've been holding off on one of the best games of the year, 30 bucks seems like a sweet deal to me.

That's awesome, but it's starting to annoy me that I always seem to already have the games that go on sale.

@Venatio: Fixes some things improves the combat and adds a much needed tutorial. I think they are also releasing all the DLC.

    • A whole new Arena mode.
    • A new difficulty called "Dark" (It's slightly below Insane, the only difference is that you can save your progress) with new weapons and armor (That are cursed, and that will affect gameplay)
    • All previous DLC packs included (Though I think the previous patch already did this)
    • A lot of technical issues resolved and further optimizations
    • New tutorial

Well I'm going to have to pick this up. My only reservation is not having played the first game. Will I still be able to enjoy the story bits?

Yeah, the only problem I had was understanding the relationships between the nations ingame, everything else was pretty easy to pick up on.

@fishmicmuffin: Played it without having played the original and enjoyed the story it is very self contained, or atleast it seemed that way.

If you were on the fence about this game, definitely buy it now while it's on sale. Definitely worth 30 monies.

@Adamsons: @rebgav: @Prodstep: Thanks guys! I'll pick it up this evening when I get home. Might wait until 2.0 to actually play it though. The tutorial will probably be helpful.

Can't wait for 2.0 to drop - just finished my first play through of the Witcher 1 and had a great time. Just have to wrap up the "Adventures" that came with the Enhanced Edition and I'll be set for the second. Got to give it to the CDprojekt guys, they make good game and give the fans what they want. I'll spend money on a team like that any day.

Yes. I saw a post on Joystiq about how CD Projekt is planning to make all DLC free on the PC platform, but they're still going to have to charge for it on the 360 thanks to Microsoft policies. Anyway, once I saw that, I was like, huh, I should finally pull the trigger. Then I saw how much content is going to be coming with the 2.0 version in two days...Yep, I'm going to have to shell out 30 happy monies.
